Precision rifle...old style

What? Obviously fake... everyone knows that only snipers with Schmidt Benders can shoot accurately past 1000. Nice try.

Really? I'm not sure if you're joking or not... This shot is possible, with the right shooter behind the gun. There are video's on YouTube of the guys from Savage shooting the Model 12 Palma out to 1200 yards quite accurately, right out of the box.

It's hard to convey tone in text, yes it was sarcasm.

Well, sarcasm aside, it happens a lot.... check out "BPCR" match shooting (Black Powder Cartridge, Rifle) Check history: example: The Battle of Adobe Walls, (here, I even looked it up for you)
Second Battle of Adobe Walls - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

...and this with .45-70 bp
Back in 1878, a fella submitted his targets, fired using a Maynard single shot rifle, equipped with open tang sights, with the below results taken from an original Maynard flyer/catalog: Maynard Flyer - 39 consecutive bulls eyes the guy shot - 9 at 800 yards, 15 at 900 yards, and 15 at 1,000 yards - all to qualify for the American team for the International Matches in 1878.

Just because you haven't heard of it, or can't do it, doesn't mean "it can't be true":)

I don't doubt the hit, it's far and that takes skill. Just have a question or two? What is the range and what caliber video doesn't state. Either way, great shooting.

1000 yards, .45-120 Sharps, cast lead bullet, black powder. Those guns are nothing but fun to shoot. :)

Why does everyone fell that you need a scope to shoot 1000 yards or even 1200 yards. Although long range shooting has been around for a couple hundred years, F Class shooting competition with a scope is still in it's infancy (only about 25 years old). We still shoot iron sighted rifles in competition here in Canada out to 1000 yards. The the UK they still shoot Match Rifle with iron sights at 1000, 1100 and 1200 yards.
There is also a BPCR competition in Ottawa during the Canadian Fullbore Rifle Championship in August.
I do have to say that the guy in the video shooting a BPCR, or any BPCR shooting that accurately is impressive.

If your referring to my first comment let me say again that it was meant as a joke. Perhaps i'm misusing the word sarcasm?

Raton NM silhouette,

This was shot in 1999 for Ripley's believe it or not.
Range was 1123 yards. And others have done it.
He is using the . 45/100 Original Sharps Borchard Rifle.
Not a paper patched ball.

Oh no, I caught the sarcasm, being a TR shooter I just like ripping on scope shooters:dancingbanana:
I am not saying that I will never ever go to F Class, but I am waiting for my white cane from the CNIB.

He loaded the chamber with a "single round", as opposed to several rounds in the chamber at one time. I love the narration and writers for these things.

Very impressive shooting though. I have a hard tiem doing that with a scope, I don't think I could do it with irons.
