Hi fellow CGN'ers!

I was browsing the other day and happened to find new USGI magazines for sale by a company for $65 a piece :O I personally have never had an issue with the Chinese variety for $35 a mag. Basically I am wondering what the difference is between the two, if there are any, to justify nearly double the price. Seems like an unnecessary cost for "Made in U.S.A"
Thanks to those with answers!!!

That would be the cost of American labor I guess. My 35 buck mags all work fine . In fact considering they were probably made by 7 year old girls in a sweatshop, they are fantastic. Try and get an American kid to make one.....pfftt!

i had a problem with mine Chinese ones where the rivet that pinned the mags to 5 was in the way of the mag release handle and i couldn't get the mags out, i had to file the rivet down to allow extraction, after that it worked fine

ps they are still pinned i didnt grind the rivet away, just filed the head down a bit.

Had the same problem with mine. The filing worked but I did it quick and easy with a large file and my mags don't look too pretty anymore :s

The price difference is not all caused by the country of manufacture but more about being in Canada with pinned mags.
Current USGI new mags sells for less than 35$ in the US.

"..."Made in U.S.A"..." Yep. There are shooters, Stateside, who absolutely refuse to shoot anything made elsewhere. They'll still argue that Norinco's/Polytech's have bad headspace etc. NIH rules.
Remember that the U.S. won't allow any parts for M14's to be exported(mags are parts) and Canada won't allow mags that aren't pinned to be imported.

Just purchased 2 5/20 mags from dead zombie .ca and they work just fine in my Norc and they were only 25 dollars each as for the norinco mags i have never had any trouble with them save for one 5 round mag that wouldn't feed the rounds

You can thank Alan Rock for the high prices on mags.

When the new Liberal mag law came in, I could still get genuine US M-14 mags for 10 bucks apiece; FAL mags were $5.

Then, suddenly, they all had to be pinned.

That means that each and every Mag had to be disassembled, cleaned, pinned and reassembled by hand.

That takes TIME and costs MONEY.

Price of pinned M-14 mags instantly doubled. So did price of FAL mags, metric AND inch pattern.

And from there, inflation took over.

But you can thank the Liberals for this one, too!

No actually i seen the mags posted here on gun nuts a while back and contacted them as to when the mags would be in they are called Thermold M 14 mags but to add i had two work great and now the next two i have need to have the larger retaining lug filed which was very easy to do as they are just a plastic mag. There contact number is 604-952-0837 hope that helps
