My new rifle has been in the works for more than a year after deciding to sell my original Norc CQa and buy something better.

I've spent all my "budget" money and then some on the following:

Vltor upper and lower
YHM 9" rail
Spikes Tactical Nickel Boron AR16 BCG
Magpul Stock
Vltor clamp-on gas block
Spikes Tactical heavy T3 buffer
Bravo Company Ambi Charging Handle
Norgon Ambi mag release
Troy fixed front battle sight
Allen Gun works Linear Comp
Bad ASS fire control
Fab defense pistol grip
Fab defense foregrip

This week the last 2 parts are showing up. Troy rear folding battle sight from Brownells and a pistol length gas tube from NEA.

Then the hole thing is being packed up and sent to Alberta Tactical so they can build the 8.5" barrel and assemble the rifle for me.

I'll post pics of "after" when everything is back in my hands.

Still need an optic, and it's going to be a Lucid HD7 Gen III once they are available from SFRC.

Here's the before pics:

Then I can finally get onto loading these. (1000 pieces of Lake City 5.56mm brass. All cleaned, sized, trimmed, deburred & primed)

Build it yourself!! :)

Spend the money you'll pay ATRS on a set of tools and you'll have what you need to build your next one too!

My plan is to have the 1st one assembled by ATRS since I've read that PDW's with short, short barrels can be a little finicky. Once I pay this off, I'm planning on a AR10 style (Can't decide on Armalite or DPMS type). After that I'll source a left hand stag upper and a 14.5" mid-length barrel to make another upper for my AR15. All these others I plan on assembling myself.

As for reloading I have my reload data using BLC-2 from my norc that should work just fine in it. I also have 3+ lbs of it sitting and waiting to load up all that brass.

Yeah, BL-C(2) is an excellent AR powder. It's just a bit of a waste in an 8in barrel. Reloading allows you the opportunity to fine tune your load for the specific gun.

I use different powders in my different AR's. I'd save the BL-C(2) for the norc. Switching to 4198 would be much more efficient in an 8 inch. Jumping from 77% to 91% which should tame the muzzle blast of the 8" to that of an 18" using BL-C(2), in theory.

Yeah, I've done a lot of experimenting with my AR's. Made some interesting observations. Just something to think about.

Thanks for advice. I'll have to get a pound and give her a try. By the way I sold the norc to help fund the Vltor, so I don't have a long barreled AR right now.
