Here's a situation to consider; what if you bought an old milsurp from a posting claiming good condition, and on inspection of the received item found cracks in the stock that were not disclosed in the ad. Granted the seller may not have been aware either, and that brings up another topic for discussion later about not properly inspecting goods posted for sale; however, in your opinion would you feel the seller should be obliged to take it back if requested? And if they don't would you feel justified in posting negative feedback in regards?

Thanks

It is hard to say. If I was the seller I would take it back no problem. My version of "good" condition and your version of "good" condition may be miles apart. Riflechair has a great video on youtube and a post about the same. Maybe check that out first before making a decision.

It really depends on the terms of the sale.

If the seller sold the item "as is" and you went ahead with the deal anyway, I'm afraid you're out of luck.

Some of the better sellers typically offer the buyer an inspection period of a couple days, and if the buyer isn't satisfied they can send it back minus the cost of shipping. I usually make sure this clause is included with the deals I do, just to be safe. I try not to deal with the "as is" sellers, and offer an inspection period of four days if I sell something.

How serious are the cracks in the stock and how long did it take to notice them? Did you shoot the gun since buying it, or simply take it out of box?

I received the item last week and took it out the box, had a cursory look and things seemed okay, then only got a chance to sit down and inspect it closely Sunday. Haven't shot it or disassembled it at all. The cracks look like they're old but appear from the tang and the rear trigger-guard screw, which are what causes me concern. Not sure if shooting it would deteriorate the condition.
