Got revolvers?

Guns come in all shapes & styles and I like them all. Just like gals, I love them all. :D

I have a few pistols but it always is a hoot to do some plinking with my S&W 617. If you love shooting, I simply cannot understand passing out on the fun of shooting a .357 mag. When punishment is in order, nothing like 20 or 30 rounds of .44 mag.

The precision I get out my wheelguns is far better than pistols: the additional 2-3 inch of radius sight puts you right on the money.

Couple summers back in Quebec City, an IPSC match was concluded with a shootout. The winner of each division (Std, Prod, Revolver, etc) then competed for the crown. I was just amazing to see this tiny old fellow and his wheelgun unexpectedly fry 80% of the pistol crowd. Movie material.

So there you go OP, I like blondes & readheads as much as brunettes. Perfectly cool that you restrict your good self to blondes.

Cheers,

PS: Holy smoke Batman, looking at my post count... just did a 360!! Look, no hands!! Yahoo!!!

I like the classic look of revolvers but not crazy about owning a bunch of them. I prefer owning nice pistols myself BUT that being said, I'm a sucker for 1873 SAA revolvers.

Any one?

At this point my preference and only experience is with the Smith 617 (want to stay in 22cal) unless they bring back a Smith 9mm..

Any opinions on the
Ruger super single six hunter ss ? as far as smoothness of the trigger and balance being the most important to me compared to the 617.

I'll bring my Single-six (not Super) this evening to the range and you can try it out.

Can the long pull (heavy) be easily improved in the Smith 617?
As you can tell I'm partial to the Smith quality in a wheel gun. (My benchmark)

The Single-Action on the 617 action is pretty smooth. DA, I admit, is a bit heavy-ish.

Whoa, back from the internet abyss! Anyway when this thread started in 2009 you couldn't give me a revolver. I owned (and still do) a beautiful 5" 629-3 Classic DX at the time and it never came out of storage. I was shooting my semi's all the time. Well, as I matured with handguns I grew into revolvers and now prefer them over any semi. I have added several to my collection since. No digging brass out of the snow. Better triggers and much ###ier in my opinion. I prefer single actions and the longer the barrel the better. Opening that loading gate and loading one at a time is very enjoyable for me. As you mature you'll see....it will happen to all of you young bucks eventually.

I'm just wondering if Onagoth bought a revolver yet????

I haven't and my opinion hasnt changed :)

And yes gregb, I have shot a variety of revos. Including a 500 s&w

There is lot of history behind revolvers and even auto loaders are firmly entrenched in the past.
The cap and ball M1860 can fire a 140 grain ball at 1000+ FPS and you can spend two days shooting it for about $20.00. No brass involved, just copper caps which like to jam up the cylinder.
The M1873 .45 Colt shoots a factory round that costs close to a dollar but can be reloaded for a tenth of that.
The M1911 .45 ACP...I like auto loaders too.

I feel the same as yourself and went one step further and purchased two Ruger Old Armies as well as a howdah pistol.
I have the bug much like Skinny1950. (And I own a 1911 as well)

Whoo hoo that single six was impressive for accuracy and easy to point. The Smith 617 trigger was to die for..

THANK you what a treat
