338 fed to 338 06

those brass come from different families, and i cant see it being a cheap conversion, ie. new reciever and bolt/mag. If you wanted a 338-06, the best way would be to get a 06 family rifle and have it rebarreled. I will be rebarelling my xbolt from 25-06 to 338-06 this summer and am a big fan of the caliber.

i don't think a 338 06 will cleanup a 338 fed chamber. probably need to set the barrel back or use an ackley 338 06 reamer.

Tikka T3 are all long action, so can be done. Sako are cartridge specific lengths, so cannot chamber a long cartridge in a short action.

Soo true. For a Sako m75 rifle, you need a "IV" size action. The reason I know is I built a 338-06AI with a new barrel off a new m75 Greywolf that was a 25-06.

I use Norma & Weatherby (made by Norma) headstamped 338-06AS brass.

My guess costs with reamer maybe couple hundred plus new clip for rifle. Budget for $400.
