Savage Mk II 22lr ammo choices?

Basically, you get what you pay for!

Last summer, I tested 9 types of match ammo in a Savage MkII BTVS and the best for the buck were:
  • CCI Standard 0.08$ per round (roughly 2/3 to 3/4 of the accuracy of CCI Green Tag)
  • CCI Green Tag 0.14$ per round (almost as good as the RWS 50m)
  • RWS 50m Target 0.16$ per round ?!?!? (best bang for the buck)

If you're willing to spend more, you should try various Eley, Lapua, RWS, and Remington distributed Eley manufactured match ammo.
At 15$-20$ for 50 rounds, even the best match ammo is not that expensive to test but the CCI Standard is tough to beat.

Good info to know! Picked up a Savage Mk.2 FV a while back and havent shot it yet. Still cant find the weaver #16 bases locally.

Pretty much anything CCI.....or at least that was my experience.

Agreed... Mine love CCI Mini Mags... CCI standards work well too... And stingers are lots of fun... Those sukers really scream along... You can shoot a propped up clay target with them and they will punch a hole clean through it without reaking them most of the time!

Blazers do work pretty well too... but not as accurate it seems... They are fine for cheap plinking...

Almost no two suggestions are a like. I need standard velocity since I'll be shooting it in a silhouette match. So far I've been able to find Remington Target and CCI standard velocity. Sadly I haven't been able to try either yet.

Here's what I got at 25m with the Reminton Target ammo;

Here's what I got with CCI Standard Vel. at 30m.

I can't wait for the spring time to stretch it out to 100m.
