H&K Mp7 in .22

It would most likely be added to the prohibited list as a "variant" of one of the several prohibited HK MP-series firearms. After all, some .22LR rifles (like the AP-80 and Mitchel AK-22) were prohibited only because they looked similar to an AK-47 (did not share caliber, type of action, maker, place of manufacture, or one single common feature except appearance).

Unfortunately! Based solely on the press release, I'd love to have one myself!

IMHO. Of course, I could be wrong, but the bureaucrats making these decisions have the final say, without oversight or access to common sense.
 
The good news is the barrel length won't matter for this rimfire, so the canadian version won't need to look retarded to be non-restricted.
