Well, need to test out the new credit card... No better way than a new toy that I been eyeing.

I've found one at P&D in Edmonton but $325 plus a whopping $39 for shipping plus taxes I'm lookin at $382.20, which to me seems a little high. I will go this route if I absolutely have to.

Just looking for a few opinions or maybe other sources. Thanks guys.

Savage Arm's website lists the MSRP at $385 so I would say that's a pretty good deal.
 
Yeah except wholesale lists them at $329..... And they are a 5 minute drive. If they have them in stock.
If not ill keep searching I was asking about the $39 shipping which seems overly pricey..
 
$39 shipping isn't too bad for a rifle I think.. If wholesale has one in stock then that's your better deal. Spend the difference on more ammo.
 
Educate me where did you buy from I am not aware of the location you mention My last quote from P&D was 45$ shipping to Ontario for a 6 lb semi auto

Just to put your $45.00 in perspective.
I shipped 2 .308 Pmags from Montreal to Toronto insured and it cost $12.00.
The box was 6" x 6" x 10"
I just bought a Mark II BSEV today and the box is 45" x 8" x 3.5" so I wouldn't call $45.00 excessive.
 
one day I might buy one, I have a 91r17 BTVS 17 hmr, but it's pointless expresive to target shoot. I use it to hunt small game, I like it.
Would give me a reason to put the 4-12 scope on the .22 and buy something a bit more powerful for the 17 hmr ;)

Bah, just plans :p Also need a 357 revolver, 45 jr carbine, target 223, target 338 lapua, tactical shotgun.... bleh.

And kryogen, I have a savage axis in .223 in the EE right now. ;) lol

Yeah, shipping sucks... I look at it as a necessary evil. Also, it is easier to justify as a percentage of the overall parcel cost... on a $400 gun $40 shipping is 10%... I recently attempted to ship a QD knob for an H&R rifle for a fellow CGNer... they wanted $14 to ship a $10 knob!!! I went back home disassembled the knob, so that it would fit through a regular mail slot and shipped it for $1.25 (ish)... when you order a $99 Boyd's stock they charge $45-50 to ship and it is a smaller box with no metal work... Often it is just cheaper to keep your money local and skip the shipping costs... I have found this with reloading supplies... I only buy local and save money doing it.

Yea I hear ya! I been wanting a Boyd's for my fvsr! If I can't find a take off mark II laminate stock of some sort, ill be forced to order a Boyd's and pay the crazy shipping! Also Hoyt, have you any idea where to order DIP parts from? 2 trigger guards to be exact?

If the Lethbridge store doesn't have it in stock would they bring it in for you so you can save the shipping?

EDIT(Sorry guys, I clicked on the wrong posting. This goes with Target Guys posting from earlier.)

I have shipped rifles from Toronto to both coasts and the average price for a rifle priced at what you are buying is $35-$45. You have to consider what you pay for in the cost of shipping. It breaks down to: base price,weight and measurements of box, insurance cost ,signature(over 18 yrs old)and how fast you want it to arrive. It's also more money if it's being shipped to a rural area. Lots to consider?
I also have a Venture One card which gives me a cheaper rate. I think the shipping is average and fair from what I have experienced.
