Just deconstructing some .38 wadcutters, nothing special, when my Lyman Magnum Inertia Bullet Puller shattered. I was banging it on a piece of wood, al la instructions when the hitting end cracked and shattered. Its a little more than a year old, so no warranty !! Am I the only one this happened to? Checked the web, and no one is reporting a similar experience.

I had my RCBS inertia bullet puller break but that was after stripping perhaps 1500 rounds including several hundred rusted Czech 7.62x45 rounds to recover the bullets. Called RCBS and they replaced it immediately - didn't even ask for the old one back. Does Lyman only have a one year warranty? Most reloading supply companies are really good about replacing their equipment if it breaks. Call them & see what they say.

Would that be as hard as the cannon ball I use? I must have had an RCBS for 20 years. It is showing some "stress" where it is flattening from impact.

I use a heavy steel block to beat on with my RCBS puller and like horseman2 above mine is over 20 years old too.

Give Lyman a call for sure, I broke a decapping pin in a universal decapping die and e-mailed them to buy a new one and they sent me one for free.

I have the hammer park from a FA one...if your "nut" and collets are still good you can have this hammer...

I broke my RCBS, then stripped the collet in the one I bought to replace it, then stripped the collet from the broken one useing it in the new one. If someone doesn't start selling replacement collets I'm going to snap.

Just use single stage press shell holders. The collets are aluminum and will strip eventually but the shell holders are hardened steel and should last longer than you will.

I just whack mine on the concrete floor. Works fine.

Thanks for the kind offer. I sent an e-mail to Lyman, waiting for a reply, hoping that giving my name and full mailing address they will get the hint !!

I can't remember what brand mine is but it's blue. I beat that thing on the base of my press if I only have a couple to do and go into the laundry room and pound on the concrete floor if I have a few to do. The end is getting quite mashed but it's still holding together.
Just buy a new one. For $20-$30 for a new one why bother paying to ship the broken one back to them. They are bound to fail eventually considering the way we treat them.

I know about useing the shell-holders, but they are hard on the case rims. Much of the brass I use costs enough that becomes a consideration. I'll probably phone RCBS one of these days and get them to send me ten of them and be done with it.

Buy an actual bullet puller, I have the Hornady Collet puller, works a million times better than any inertia hammer job!

The problem with this idea, is that if you have to pull lead bullets you can't do it unless you use the hammer type.

As to the extra collets for the hammer type, I just went to my local dealer and he had them in stock.
