prefer flush fit magazines.......should I just get over it ???

I have always preferred flush fit magazines on my 22 rifles.........if not exactly flush like the Ruger 77-22 then pretty close to it.
My thinking is that a magazine protruding more than a half inch or so spoils the look of the rifle.
Am I the only one with this hang up???

I would like to try a CZ 455 American or Full Stock..........I know they shoot great, look great ,but the first thing I notice is that protruding magazine. I would rather have a 4 shot mag or even a 3 shot mag.......as long as it was flush.

What do you think ??? Any solution to this in the CZ other than shooting it as a single shot ?

I also like the flush mags. and choose the gun which has the least protruding mags. But short of that i use the tube fed models as the mag does not get lost or fall out and is never in the way when carrying.

Funny people's how peoples preferences are so different on this subject. I don't see the point in having a detachable magazine if there aren't at least 5 rounds in it. Heck, if they made 20 or 30 round magazines for the 452/455 I would be more inclined to buy one. Personally, I really like rifles whose magazines come right flush with the trigger-guard. I guess that why I find Enfields, Ross and Model 8s so damn ###y.

They do. Was a post about it a while ago on rimfire central. There was also a thread on there about moding the 452 metal mags to be darn near flush and still hold 5 rounds.

Not really. Grab a buddy and shoot at some steel for a few hours. Last winter at the farm I was shooting with a buddy we went through 2.5 bricks each. Shot for 2-3 hours a day. THats with hanging out time as well wasnt solid shooting.

Magazine length doesn't really concern me, when I shoot seated, I use a bipod and length is irrelevant and when I use a semi-auto I like shooting as much as reliably possible before a reload, so I choose high capacity. One thing I am picky about, especially in a rimfire, is having ammunition capacities in multiples of 5, part of the reason why the Ruger SP-101 in .22LR doesn't quite sit well with me.

Ya, those large capacity mags just get caught in the steering wheel and hang up on the window ledge.

I have 5 and 10 rnd mags for my CZs. I find if I am plinking I use the 10rnds and when I am walking I use the 5rnd and the 10rnd loaded in my pocket. the 10 sticks out and jabs my back. I find the 5rnds hardly stick down. less then 1/2" on the 452s 22lr. maybe the 455s are different I am not sure. my 452 22wmr's stick out a little bit more but not enough to bother me.

Find an older Anschutz model 310, flush mag, great gun. For more fire power a Buckmark rifle, 10 rounds in the grip, no hangy down. If you're worried about things like gopher attacks, you need a bigger gun like the Ruger 44 mag semi auto or a lever gun of appropriate caliber. Have taken many gophers with a single shot also, still here to tell the tales. Years ago, carrying a Gevarm takedown with a 20 rnd was a pain.
