Okay so I was out today shooting my new/old sks (owned for a year brand new never used) it has a metal detachable mag, here's where it gets fishy. The mag does not like going in the gun. It basically needs to be installed when the gun is apart because the mag release does not go back far enough to allow it to click under its tab. Anyways. No biggy but it is having issues feeding. (see pic below). Bullets are getting caught under the chamber , usually on third round or so .Also I have a tapco mag and it does not even come close to being able to be secured under the mag release slide. Just some thoughts. Also don't want to hear stick with stock mag and use the search function. I did and also googled it and got no clear answers. Gun is Chinese and the pic is not mine under but showing where it is sticking.

Post a picture or two of your rifle and your mag and I might be able to give you an answer.

It's a pity you don't want to hear stick with the stock mag.

If more pics are needed of certain area let me know. . I included one of the taco mag that can't even clear the mag release even tho I only want to use the metal mag because in my other tapco stocked Sks both the mags work and fit.

Mag release does not go back far enough to allow mag tab to release.

Feed lips probably need tweaking. Lift them up slightly until the bullets catch the feed ramp and slide up into the chamber. The tab is an easy fix, just file it a little shorter until the mag catch clears it. Also, don't just go bending the feed lips until you know which one is causing problems. Feed rounds slowly into the chamber and watch which side hangs up. Tweak accordingly.

What do you mean lift them up?

The feed lips need to be bent upwards a little so the rounds sit higher in the mag, thus contacting a higher point on the receiver when slid forward by the bolt. Sheetmetal vice-grips work good.

If its jamming on the third round then it is probably the right feed lip. If its feeding the first round but not the third then it probably doesn't need much.

Yah okay I just fooled around for two hours, fine line between bending the metal so that it raises the feed ramp but not enough that it still can hold the bullet and prevent it from popinjay out. We will see how it shoots

So I adjusted the feed lips to raise the followers and it fixed the problem with the bullet hiting below the camber but then it made the bullet on the left side fly out and cause stove pipe. So I bent it over a little to help it retain the bullet properly and prevent this. Just gotta take it out and try it again now. On the right track tho
