Would You Actually Trade Your M14 For An FAL?

I would want my Grandfathers full auto FAL (It was full auto from the factory heavy barrel ect) It was also Canadian Military issue. I had it for 1 hour in my name when I was 8 then the CFO stole it from me with out me signing it over because my parents didn't want warrantless yearly searches and stuff like that so they gave it to a museum even though it was willed to me as his last will and testament. (He knew I might not get it due to my age at the time)

Seems like a lot of nostalgia for the FAL in this thread. And this forum.

Anyone who answered yes - would that change if you had your M14 in a modern ergonomic stock like a Blackfeather? I know part of the attraction of a FAL is the ergonomics, part is that i can't have one, and part that my dad carried one (SLR).

No it wouldn't change. SLR was the first gun I ever fired and dragged around in the 70s. I got the fancy stock for the Norc and it works well but it just doesn't feel the same.
Its a bit like getting laid once and then watching #### for the rest of your life :(

No I want the FN because of its history with the CF. the M14 is a great gun, its just not an FN

first gun i ever shot was an FNC1A1. I was given this gun on courses with Army Cadets, and was taught how to use it proficiently, at a young age. I was 12, used it till i was around 15-16. Then the liberals douchbags took over, and took them all away. :(
There has not been a gun i want more, nor will there ever be.

The Americans should have chosen the FN too, but there was perhaps a little to much politics involved in the "trials". Everyone else in the free world saw the light, but the Americans wanted to beat their existing design to death. I would have to also say that if the Yanks would have adopted the FN, the M16 abortion would perhaps have never been saddled on everyone.

Nope.

I remember when all those cheap crappy Ishapore FN's came in the country, and were selling for $99 bucks. Did not buy.

All the CF ones I ever saw were also beat to crap after decades of use.

Now, even though you can't even shoot the things, and there is a diminishing pool of 12(5) owners out here people still want inflated prices for the things. I might consider buying one on the cheap just because I can, but not for the prices people want.

Nostalgia aside, dollar for dollar the Norc m305 is a way better value. We don't appreciate what we have.

Grumpy pants.

I would also like to have ### with Jennifer Aniston. My chances of that happening are probably only a little better than the government allowing us access to functioning FAL's.

ive only ever held an fn!
and i admit its a beautiful thing!!
but i would like to know how many of these fn fans have actually fired them????
