Finally, here is my version of the SKS-AR magasine conversion ! *live fire post 42*

If I get it correctly than the gun becomes restricted? Did you check rules on it. I mean I am very interested in that. I am just confused on purpose. How is it legal with FRT did that get approved? What is legalllity of this?

This is from the RCMP :

4. Magazines designed for one firearm but used in a different firearm

The maximum permitted capacity of a magazine is determined by the kind of firearm it is designed or manufactured for use in and not the kind of firearm it might actually be used in. As a consequence, the maximum permitted capacity remains the same regardless of which firearm it might be used in.

Example:
The Marlin model 45 (Camp Carbine) rifle chambered for 45 Auto caliber uses magazines designed and manufactured for the Colt 1911 handgun, therefore the seven round and eight round capacities are permitted. A similar example is the 10 round capacity magazine for the Rock River Arms LAR-15 pistol, regardless of the kind of firearm it is actually used in.

What is illegal it's to modify the magazine itself to fit another rifle.

Too much work I just buy a few sks metal magazines. Load it before I go to range and reuse it again and again. You guys just pushing the limits I think.

Exactly !

Would be fun to convert a SKS to 223 but too pricey, just the barrel would be around 500$.
Could you make the title less confusing ? "AR magazine" sounds like standard STANAG .223 magazine, not XCR magazine. I don't believe the two are interchangeable.

??? wtf are you talking about?

No one is "pushing the limits". This is 100% legal and the use of these magazines has even been specifically outlined as legal by the RCMP.

Consider it a gift from the RCMP. Somewhere, deep down, something in their minds said "let them have this one thing"

To me this does not make sense on a SKS. You need the original magazine to shoot it properly.

As for the CZ858/VZ58, yes a mag well adapter is a must.

Dont want to be an A** here but are you a Fudd ? ill say the RCMP do classified firearms like no one does, example !?!? making the GSG 5 a phohib,Sig 522 phohib etc Damn it is just some 22 LR rifle's ...

My philosophy behind that modification !?!? -> The SKS is a fun rifle, why not making it a more fun rifle ?

Doesnt make sense on an SKS but DOES make sense on an 858? How is that?

You buy your $180 SKS, get a decent stock and this adapter and for the same price as a base 858 with the beaver barf stock and NO adapter youve got a nice looking, comfortable gun that shoots 10 rounds legally.

Of course there are all those guys who get up in arms when you "destroy" a piece of history by bubbing one of about a billion SKS's produced in the last 70 years. Darn... there are so few of them how can we allow one to be sacrificed in the name of fun? Travesty.

Im seriously considering sending my gun away to have this done. I just want to see/hear a little more about it before I spend the $$... think about it with 2 XCR mags and the mag coupler, 20 rounds all in one. Sweet.

I do think the mag needs to drop free though. Its not a deal breaker if it must be pulled out but I dont see why that would be necessary if there is a mag release.

Why would the gun become restricted.. He didn't change the length or action.. The Magazine as long as it's legal is still legal and doesn't change the classification..

Pushing the limits?

No, more like pushing back stupid legislations to make gun owners feel like they are not criminals and actually enjoy their firearms with a decent capacity magazine.

Pushing the limits? I don't think so.

Modifying an SKS to accept legal AR mags is no different than adding a magwell adapter to an 858 to allow it to use legal AR mags.

Didn't see it asked but will this mag conversion work on the Tapco stock? I already did the bolt drop out and the adjustment of the ejection port.

The tapco stock will have to be modified to fit the adapter as the wood stock do,would not be a problem to do it !

Only thing, doesn't look much like a pistol mag. I always think of a 9 mm type mag not a long mag like that. Just saying.

Looks exactly like a magazine for a Rock River Arms LAR-15 pistol to me!

EDIT:
Nope. I was wrong. It's for the Robinson Arms XCR-L Pistol:

A pistol mag doesn't have to look like anything.
