I am finding that the factory metal but plate on my norinco m305 lacks grip on the shoulder also I'm thinking that the but plate along with the cleaning kit and internals is adding extra weight to the already heavy beast has anyone converted there rifle to a standard but pad ? The one on my houge 870 is real nice and grippy stays in place and reduces felt recoil ...

Yes, you can remove that heavy steel butt plate and tool business and install a rubber butt plate. Gives some grip but not much in the way of recoil reduction. Really, recoil is not an issue on these rifles any ways. Check the sponsors for butt pads, around $12 - $15 usually.

Marstar is the place where I got mine. The biggest benefit to changing it out is to shave almost a pound off your rifles weight. That thing is ridiculously heavy.

Recoil is not the issue it weight and the way the but stock feels on the shoulder if I'm wearing a pack or anything with padded straps the rifle will not stay in the proper pocket seems to wanna slip to the outside ... Will check out the limb saver
