Could there be any possibility of getting these up here at all?
They're new production by SMG guns out of Texas, in semi-automatic only, and dimensionally similar to the originals.
except there's options of .308 or 8mm calibre rifles.
Tooling through some of the legislature we have its barrel "should" be long enough for a NR classification (19.7")
overall length also should be without issue at around 38.4"
I just really like the sideways magazine, and it's an overall interesting design in my opinion. and it would be bonus if it could be brought up with NR classification, or restricted, just have to get coursework and upgrade application filed.
Here is the URL i stumbled on in the first place.

SMG cannot afford the correct US DOJ and State Dept. Export Permits required for the small market in Canada... Also, even if they were prepared to jump into the unknown with a potentially bankrupt able Canadian FG42 deal, someone would still have to purchase one and submit it to the RCMP for verification and classification... and we all know how long and nebulous that can be....

Your only real option is to search for one of the 10 SSD Type 1 FG42's that were imported into Canada from Germany about 6 years ago... and be prepared to shell out $8,000 - $10,000 dollars....

It sucks, I know. :(

iN CALL of duty these guns weren't really that good, the mag emptied way too quick and the muzzle jump was intense. You were far better off with an StG44 or BREN gun.

I was kind of a big deal because I made it to level 65 twice in multiplayer mode, but I have to admit I used the tanks a lot trololol

You're such a n00b. The FG 42 was the best gun in the game, other than the Kar 98 when you quickscope. :p

As I own 2 I will add to this. The recoil is less than an AK but more than an AR. When they jam, and they do jam because of gas port fouling it is a real pain to clear, you must support the rifle by the charging handle as you are pulling it back while trying to remove the magazine with your other hand. But because there is no opening on the bottom of the receiver the damaged cases and bullets fall onto the operating rod. So you must fish those out with a finger while trying to keep the bolt from slamming on your finger and while holding the rifle on its side trying to shake out the cases. Everything is in the wrong place for ergonomics. It really is a bad design. But I will never sell mine.

People I go to the range with do not enjoy it when I take them because we can never fire more than a couple of rounds before another person starts asking questions about what the hell is that thing you have? Where did you get it? One person suggests that I make up pamphlets and hand them out as people pass by to save time.

Why such a pessimist? SSD went through the trouble of getting the gun classified to sell 10 rifles, these guys might, too. And the outcome of the classification should be a no-brainer. If it can get ATF approved as a semi-auto, it will certainly get listed as non-restricted in Canada.

Not a pessimist... I got this info from the horses mouth. As it stands, they are NOT exporting to Canada.

The manufacturer has to registered with US DoS to have the products exported. The actual export must be done by a licenced exporter.
