Show off your 300 AAC rifles!

The data i can find on 220gn smk is 11.5gn min & max, no chrono till next friday.

I can't find AA1680 which is why i tried H4198.

Sucks that all powders are getting hard to find. I found a pound of it but haven't done any loading lately to try it out.
Not sure if they will ship powder or if they have any left but ATRS in Calgary is where I got it.

11.5gn H4198 is about max, as you hear it compressing when seating the bullet to 2.20 AOL.

I will keep looking for AA1680 and try some more H4198 loads after i lube the ####e out of the 300 blk.

What length handguard is that and what type of muzzle device are you using? I have a 8.5 inch barrel and am looking for the same look as yours, so I was thinking of going 9inch handguard. Trying to decide if I need a solid brake/flashhider so that gas isn't bled off while still under the handguard as the barrel is shorter by half an inch.

It's a 9" handguard and an Ares EFFIN-A comp. There are some ports on the comp that are "inside" the handguard but I just plugged them with the supplied screws.

You are gonna have trouble getting subsonics to cycle with a carbine length gas system. My rifles both have pistol length gas systems so I'm not sure how it is done with the longer gas system.

I have read on the 300blktalk forum that some have managed it. I am going to do some more tests this week.

I cut my own brass, 300 so far. I have 2000 223 left to do.

Sweet baby Jesus! It'll take you forever to do all those. Unless of course you've set up an automated process like on a Dillon 650.

I can cut around 500/hour. I will cut 1000 brass on saturday, and on sunday will resize and then trimm using wft.

I use a chop saw also for cutting down to rough size , then I size and trim in a progressive press using a Dillon RT 1200 case trimmer. The
last couple batches sure went faster than the first few using a Forester trimmer ;)

I also use progressive press for sizing but wft is fine for now.

Which die and where can you get one for Dillon RT 1200?

F55 is that a video of u doing the chopping??

Ive been trying to find that mini chop saw for awhile

Yep

The saw was from us via ebay, could not find one in Canada. The block for the brass was from 300blktalk forum.

The chopsaw was $70 shipped and the block for the brass was $40 shipped.

Any luck sorting out the primer issue, i noticed you posted core15 section on 300blktalk.

Core15 300blk 16" carbine length gas.

150fmj_300blk.jpg

150gr btfjm
2.185 not 2.85, 3 touching are about .6" at 50 yards

May I ask what your load and COAL is for the 150g FMJBT is?

I plan on working a bunch up tomorrow with H110.

2.065" looks like it aligns the .25" part of the ogive with the rails in my usgi mags so was thinking of starting there

mopar

H110 16gn
COAL 2.185, i tried 2.065 but was getting the best accuracy from 2.185.

This load cycled the action but did not lock back on last round.

I bought (2) of those Harbour Freight mini-saws last year. I can see having that guide set up really speeds up the process. I just feed them in by hand without the benefit of a guide.

Could you please provide me with the name of the person you bought the guide/block from? It's definitely something I should have.

Im thinking its just bad Ammo. The early 300blk from remington supposedly had some out of spec/ terrible QC done on them. And im suspecting that since 300blk isnt popular and where im getting my ammo that the stuff I have is first production stuff. So im looking at reloading to see if I get the same occurances.

Also my cousin should be getting a 300blk headspace gauge and reamer soon so I should beable to solve the issue

Also would anyone be willing to part with a harbour freight mini chop saw??

Which die and where can you get one for Dillon RT 1200?[/QUOTE]

I use a 308 die that I cut down to fit the 300 Blk length. It got to short to fit the lock nut on the die,so I needed another way to lock the trim die in place. So I drilled and tapped a hole for a bolt in the press to lock the die in place. Seems to work good.

I bought a 6" chop saw from princess auto, was $100 but they couldn't find any so I got the floor model without the box for $60. I chopped 700 Rem 223 off in about an hour just feeding them in by hand and cutting just behind the shoulder, then used the RCBS case prep center to inside outside debur then sized to form the new neck then over to the Lyman accutrimmer with the power drill adapter. It was a slow process but now that I've finished them I should be good for a few months and I have around 1000 once fired Federal 223 brass waiting to be converted when these start getting tired. Also have about 5000 factory Federal 223 that will become brass for the 300BLK after they go through my other AR :)

Next on my list is a 300BLK bolt action built as short as possible but still non restricted.

I'm hoping to get out for some more load testing this week.
Has anyone started a thread in the reloading section yet?
Once I have data worth posting I'll start one unless someone beats me to it. All of my 110 v-max loads with H110 cycled but I haven't found a good accuracy load yet, same with my 125gr speer TNT HP loads. The heavier stuff (140gr+) is a little more temperamental, I have got some to cycle but they still need some tweaking. I have 15 loads to test loaded with 208gr A-max, will also post those results when I have something worth sharing.

So far my best load is 19.4gr H110 with a 110gr V-max set at 2.04" col. Getting close to 1" @100yds and just over 2100fps through my 9.75" barrel.

This is mine now. New Magpul stock and the scope is just on there for load development. Not sure what I'll do once I find my happy loads. Been thinking of the Hi-Lux CMR for 7.62x39/300BLK that Wolverine is carrying. I have the same one with the 223 reticle on my 14.5" and really like it. I think it's a good value at $400.
Guess I can take off the front MI sight till I'm done with the scope :)

Running once fired 223 remington cases through a case trimmer mounted on the drill press, cut to length, chamfer and deburr and finally lube and run into a full length sizing die, finally that old lee hand press came to use.

I am using the Forster drill press brass trimmer assembly but I managed to chuck a lee stud and shell holder asssembly into it, the collet on the forster was filling up with to many shavings to get the brass in and locked, the cutter on the drill press is just running the standard 223 pilot on it, seams to work well even after removing the neck, I know because prior to the video and tak down of the set up I trimmed over 1000 223 brass down.
