What are my options for non-restricted AR type rifle

Wow, two pages and no one has jumped all over the OP about looking for an assault rifle, and being a troll. I'm disappointed.

Ah, you beat me to it!! So many (thanks stupid media) think that AR stands for 'assault rifle' when you correctly pointed out, it stands for the manufacturers name Armalite Rifle.
i have never once heard a news caster say "assault rifle 15" or "ar in ar15 stands for assualt rifle, nor have i ever heard assault rifle really, there favorite words now are assault weapons...

Well I found one locally and pulled the trigger one the XCR-L

all in it was $3200 which included
- Taxes
- 6.8 and .223 Barrel
- Scope rings
- hand grip
- 120 rounds in .223

True, but they call every black tacticool rifle that is only a semiautomatic an assault rifle or assault weapon... and when they speak of these weapons, there is aways a picture of an AR variant shown in the background. But you are right, things are now being spun into Assault Weapons. Umm, by definition of assault in the criminal code, any weapon is an assault weapon if use to commit an assault on ones person. That will include stabbing with a pencil, hitting with a baseball bat, or the famous tire iron to the knee of a figure skater! LOL.... but now we are truly off track for the OP.

no such thing as high cap mags in canada 5rd semi auto center fire max

How is there even one person that still believes this? It really depends on the rifle. Any gun that takes AR pistol mags will take the 10 round LAR-15 mags and it's totally legal. The pistol calibre carbines like the Kriss, the thureon defense, JR carbines, etc, they use glock mags and can use 10 rounders as well.

Check the barrell length - I was looking to buy the Benelli, but found that most of the retailers seem to carry the Benelli carbine (16" barrell) which makes it restricted.. so I opted for the XCR - which has been flawless for two years and over 1000rds.
