So I take a run to LeBaron today on my lunch hour, and while poking around the gun room, I see the cutest little rifle sitting behind the counter....a wood stock Savage Rascal. I've seen a few around with the blue, pink, yellow or black synthetic stocks, but this little thing looked fantastic with its "big boy" wooden stock. I asked the guy behind the counter to take a look-see, and shortly after I was doing the paperwork. I thought the fit and finish was really nice, and figured it would make a nice addition to my .22 cabinet....Meh....I'm sure I'll Grand Kids someday.

Just snagged one from Prarie Gun Traders in LH. Fit and finish is nice; my kid has no problems holding it or using it. Zombies die easily from 15 yards with the stock iron sights.

There was a lot of thought put into this little wonder...the safety features are fool proof, and again the wooden stock really makes it look like an honest to goodness scaled down classic .22......talk about something to make you want to put on a coon skin hat and run up the railway track.....I haven't grinned this big since the first time I saw boobies!

I've owned one since last fall and love it!

My uncle wants to get my cousins into shooting. If his little girl saw that rifle she'd flip right out.

There is a pink camo one called Muddy Girl......

And, they are made in Canada!!!!! Lakefield, Ontario

I've shared these photos a few times, but here's my daughter shooting her green Rascal...and the end results! :) I have her shooting CCI CB longs, and CCI Quiet mostly. Both punch holes through cans nicely! She is keen on trying the rifle with a scope, but does very well with the irons. The scope has been a bit tricky. I'm on attempt #3 to get one on there. First-off~Weaver bases~no good. (bolt wouldn't clear, they blocked the path~tried 2 different model #s) Second~new, Savage-made bases that seem to address the issue...but unless your scope has really forgiving eye relief, you might have trouble. The bases (when mounted) are so close together that you have almost NO room to position the scope where you want it, no forward/back adjustment space. Third~new Savage Rascal EGW base on the way. :)

None of this takes away from the fact that the little rifle is terrific, and confidence-inspiring for a small-framed shooter. Very light, manageable size, and very accurate.

Here's a range report of sorts....I'm in my back yard now with my little Rascal....just drilled 10 consecutive shots into a target @ about 25 yards...I was able to cut out my bulls eye....this is a little tack driver!...think I'll buy a second Rascal to use as a pack rifle!....my AR-7 can't hit like this!
