Can you "ghost load?"

OH yes and forget the try to enforce, you will be charged and it will stick in court

You must have quite the backwards legal system when a person can be convicted of violations that can't actually be found in any official regulations. And to think that some people refer to Albertans as rednecks.

Backwards everything right from the 15% tax and on and on. Albertans as rednecks to some for sure. Not to someone hatched in West Virginia as I have been. Not even close. We would not be talking floating a 4th round but a double barrel semi. Two semi auto shotguns duck taped together with no plugs in either and 10 round rallys.Would be interesting if you get a chance someday to ask your dnr what they would class as a 4th round. I also think they would see it less of it out your way. So many birds and opportunities to limit out why risk it. Here guys may sit in a blind for 5 full days and never fire a round which could lead to problems when they do get birds in front of them. Can fully understand DNR's take on this extra round and support it 100%
Any how take care :)
F'K it's 3.30am here and I am still playing on nutz, this site is killing me :)

Does it really make that much of a difference?
I know i sure wouldn't be looking at a particular shotgun by checking to see if i can get a fourth shell under in it.
Seems like a bunch of extra effort to shoot an extra round .
How about simply shooting 3 oe even two and enjoying the day instead of trying to "game" some law?

This thread has gotten huge. My thoughts, the gun was not designed to have a ghost round under the bolt and over the carrier. I can't think of a single situation where the ghost round would be an advantage. (that I have been in) I think after looking at my semis that damage could occur doing this. (or at least pre mature wear) I have no thoughts on the legality of the ghost round but most likely that would be decided by a JP in court. This action may have a place in a tactical or military situation where quite likely the extra round could save your life. But we are mostly hunters here. I have to agree with cat and 3 macs1 policy that to load three and be safe, be beyond law enforcement's scrutiny and have fun while hunting is a good practise.

I fully agree with you, and as you know, I much prefer O/U shotguns for both target shooting and hunting. I do happen to own two semi autos at the moment , but I have no idea if either one will hold four rounds, and I have no interest in bothering to find out. However, I am a big believer in hunters obeying the regulations as written, and in the F&W officers enforcing the laws as written. If a regulation is written so that it leaves a loophole, then rewrite it to close that loophole, or accept that there is a loophole, and live with it. Enforcing supposed regulations that can't be found in any official Act, is nonsense, that is no different than some RCMP officers enforcing what they feel should be the firearms laws, rather than enforcing the fireams laws that actually appear in the Acts.

Just so everyone here is clear on why I started the post, it was just to see what guns can or cannot carry 4 shells with no modifications. I won't and don't intend to hunt with 4 rounds, however it is fun while shooting clays to try and hit 4 targets rather than 2 or even 3!... I believe in safe and LEGAL hunting to avoid any excuses on more strict gun laws. Happy hunting!

Just asking. Does your clubs now allow 4 in a gun for any form of clay targets.??? Most I have shot at over the years have a 2 round max ours here still does.

No however I Do about 50% of my shooting on private land owned by either myself.... Friends... Or family. Any clubs I have been to also have a 2 round maximum although they may not always be stated it's kind Of an unwritten rule around here

Thank you. Yes shooting clays on private and crown land is a nice option you guys have which we don't down here. Take care and break them all. :)
