Finally managed to take a pic of my primary 300 BLK carbine. This rifle gets run mostly with subsonics.
10" 1:8 twist, heavy profile, custom McGowan barrel
- custom silent captured spring assy w 17lb recoil spring.
- the only .30 cal SPEX Brake in existence
- YHM flip up sights
- Ace tactical bottle opener (for ####s & giggles)
- Magpul ... lots of Magpul.

I had ATRS build me an 11.5 in the BLK with the pistol length system. Not sure whose blanks they use.
An 8" barrel is too short for a carbine length gas system. A 10" barrel with a carbine length system has the gas port right at the end of the barrel. You will NEVER get a combination like this to cycle subsonics. You may even have trouble getting it to cycle supersonics because the BLK burns a lot less powder than a 223. NOBODY making 300 BLK barrels uses a carbine length gas system on barrels shorter than 16".
Maybe you ought to do a bit more research on the subject before ordering a custom barrel.
Unless things have changed Noveske is even using pistol length gas systems on their 14.5" and 16" barrels. Some manufacturers have moved into carbine systems for those lengths but I've heard mixed reviews when shooting subs without suppressor...

ATRS uses Rock Creek 5r blanks and turns their own barrels. My 7.5" 300Blk barrel was made by them with pistol system.
I'm trying to copy Suputin, have my NEA PDW stock on order, managed to snag a tapered 30 cal Eliminator, they only make tapered in 5.56 now

Their SS barrels use pistol length gas system. They do sell chrome-lined 300 BLK carbines with a 16" carbine-length barrel. The same barrel that PSA sells...FN made.
Of note Noveske has stripped their line to the BARE minimum. You can only buy complete 10.2" and 16" carbines now. Not sure if they are selling the other size barrels anymore. Questar took the 8.2" off their site for pre-order. Noveske is completely out of the 6.8 SPC game now...no barrels or carbines listed anymore.

With my 9.75 inch barrel and pistol length piston system I found that the minimum powder charge that would fully cycle and lock the action after last shot was 12gr of 1680. My H110 (max 10.5gr) and LiL'gun (max 9gr) wouldn't cycle fully.

With my 9.75 inch barrel and pistol length piston system I found that the minimum powder charge that would fully cycle and lock the action after last shot was 12gr of 1680. My H110 (max 10.5gr) and LiL'gun (max 9gr) wouldn't cycle fully.
Now to work on an accuracy load
Yesterday I tried some H4198 with 220gn smk at 11.5 and 11.8gn with different spring and lubed the hell out of the rifle, but my 16" barrel carbine gas system would not cycle. I even tried 9.9gn H110 with 220 smk and no go, the H110 would not even eject the brass.
I am going to try A1680 next and if that doesn't work i guess i am sticking with 150gn max with 16" supersonic

Your max loads that don't cycle are hotter than the loads that cycle my rifle just fine. What buffer are you using? With a normal buffer and recoil spring I am using a standard buffer which is the lightest option. Now I have a captive silent spring system like the JP which allows me to vary spring weights easily. Typically I use a 17 lb spring for subsonics. That solves a lot of cycling problems.
My bad. I actually meant to say pistol length. I have seen a lot of longer 300 blk barrels around, but might as well go for a short one since the round is apparently wll-suited for short lengths.
Given the choice I'd rather get an off the shelf one than a custom made one.
Slim picking, though.
