I had once posted a thread on the forum asking for advice on the forum for info on this shotgun. Well I forgot to do the follow up. I did have before pictures but accidently deleted them off my phone.
Well when It came into my possession the stock, forend and barrel was covered in this awful camo tape. Removed the tape to find the wood finish was damaged and the barrel was rusted and pitted in places. Sanded everything down. Wood stock was hand sanded with 100, 180 and 400grit sandpaper. Then 3 coats of linseed oil. I'd put it on the register and wait 24hrs and light sanding between coats. The barrel was sanded down vigorously and then blued with g96 gun blue creme. It did a wonderful job. Hind sight i would not used it on another vent rib barrel on account that it was a paint to remove excess creme from under the rib.
I have tested it out and it still needs two things. The top safety piece is missing. The safety works, but after the first shot the safety comes back on. It also needs a better recoil pad. The original is made out of the same material as a hockey puck.
next project is a cooey single shot 410 with a busted stock and a barrel in need of rebluing. I'll definitely use the g96 creme on this one, there is no vent rib on that barrel.
If you have any questions ask away.
