There have been MANY items for sale on the EE here that I've been interested in, however I have no idea how EMT works. I have been using (FRAUD ALERT) for ever, and this is the first place I've been a member of that uses EMT.

Well, basically EMT is like a check that is instantly removed from your account and held in limbo until the recipient accepts and deposits it. While it is being held you can cancel it.

What I really like about it is that the money is removed from my account, whereas with a check you never really know when the person is going to cash it so you need to keep a really close eye on your account, and I'm sure lots of sellers appreciate knowing that the funds are available. Anyone can write a check for any amount, but with EMT you cannot transfer more than what is available in your account.

First of all you need to be set up for online banking, which is generally a good idea anyways. Online banking has changed my life.

I was just like you up until 2 weeks ago. I never used EMT and after trying it I think it is a great way to make a payment. If your set up for banking online just click on transfer money and follow the steps.

Does anyone know if there is any purchase protection with EMT?
With (FRAUD ALERT), if the seller doesn't ship the product, or grossly misrepresents the product, you have recourse.
If that's not the case with EMT, then it seems risky?
I'm a newbie and haven't used it yet, so I'm hoping there is more to it?
Thanks for any input.

If you use pay pal do not say its for a gun they have a policy against it. Who are all these shady people I've sent money orders on this website sight unseen and have always been happy because it comes as described

My understanding is that EMT is the internet equivalent of mailing cash, you got next to no recourse. I guess people here have a healthy amount of trust.

Thank you guys.
I wasn't aware of (FRAUD ALERT)'s gun policy. That would certainly kill a dispute as you have to disclose everything during that process.
It seems like the level of trust is pretty high in Canada. No one seems to be reporting any concerns.
This makes me feel better about the whole thing.
Thanks again!
