it won't sell for 8, Gary! Reasonable asking figure of about $575. and she'll be gone for 500-525ish in 3 shakes and that's before the salty drops land!!!

So far the OP only asked about the gun's value and at no point did he/she hint at selling it...you simply assumed that that was the case! If I inherit a violin and I have no idea of it's value what am I most likely going to do? That's right...ask folks who might have an answer! But it doesn't mean I am going to sell it?

It appears to be in good shape, normal wear. Value for sale would be about $450, top end in my opinion. For insurance/replacement- $550.
