i have one that looks just like that in 300 savage, but it has a lyman maybe rear side mount site. Had it for a while, just shot it the other day, works great! Fun caliber too, never fired a 300 sav before that.

7600 270 Synthetic
7615 CAMO 223
7600 POLICE 308 Factory 16.5" barrel > I DOUBT I'd ever sell this gun! such a handy little bush gun. Ghost ring sights are excellent just about as perfect a little carbine as you could get.

I got my whelen off Supercub...... I put a leupold 2-7x32 VX1 on it and w/ factory ammo a great shooter at 100yds.....never tried any further.
Thanks, Supercub!
Those Whelens really are a handy rifle, esp with a nice small scope like you put on yours. The only improvements I could see from the factory would be sling studs, a nice 1/2" Declelerator and a 20" bbl.

The only thing I ever shot with one was a bull moose with a 250gr Speer behind the ear at close range. The results were dramatic, but then any rifle would have worked fine under those circumstances.

Be nice to see for sure . They only made the 760 280 carbine for 5 years 60-64 and one with factory gold on it would have been in the rem custom shop so would be real cool. I have a 7600 280 and like the gun.

A little birdy told me that I don't think the gold on the 280 carbine in question is from the custom shop. I think it is a DIY job.

I love this gun regardless.

I haven't read the entire thread but I was reading in a magazine that the 760's came in 222 Rem Mag?

Anyone ever seen one of these?

So I'm somewhat unhappy with the trigger in my Model 6 and 572 (.22 with an awful trigger for those that don't know). I would like to try and lighten them up a bit. From what I can see, the trigger groups, specifically the sear and sear spring, in all my Remington pumps (including my 870) are pretty much identical.

Has anyone here did the simple sear spring replacement?

I know that Timney offers an adjustable sear and spring but at a $100....

Yup, I've done it to one of my 7600s...except that I got my springs from a hardware store and got a few different weights to play with. I also drilled and tapped the rear of the trigger guard and installed an overtravel screw which I locktited (blue) into place. That particular 7600 in .30-06 shoots 180gr SST handloads into groups that can be hidden by a quarter and 100yds!

I have a pretty nice Pre 61 760 in 244 Rem. I just finally upgraded the original Lyman All-American 4x to a Bushnell 1.5-4. She's a real sweetheart to shoot and wickedly accurate with lighter bullets. Really likes 80 grain stuff....

Well I'm back in the club. Just bought a synthetic 7600 carbine in 30-06. Lots of plastic on it but it should still as reliable as a hammer. Putting a 1.5x5 VX3 on it and it will be my primary deer camp gun this year. Anybody have any luck/advice on cleaning up that trigger? I can live with the heavy pull but would love to reduce the creep.

I believe guntech from on here works on them, taking the creep out may or may not be possible. Weight, and over travel can be worked on.

I'm back in the 7600 club waith another 7600 Weathermaster in 30-06. I love the tough nickel finish, but have always been a bit bothered by the plastic trigger housing --- not for any practical reason, but just aesthetics.

A couple of questions for our knowledgeable members:
- Were the early 7600's made with a metal trigger housing, and if so, what year did they change to plastic and can the metal trigger group be swapped into a modern 7600?
- Would any of the 12ga or 20ga 870 trigger groups work in a 7600, and if so, has anyone made the switch and managed to add back the 7600's magazine release?

Dennis(Guntech)did 2 7600 triggers for me lastyear.
I asked for both of them to be about 3lbs, and both of them turned out excellent w/ very little creep...100percent satisfied, highly recommended!!!

P.S.
Price was outstanding as well! :)

Late 80's 7600, .308, shoots one ragged hole at 100y
with 165g speer hotcore and 44.6grains of varget.
The absolute go to rifle to fill the freezer. Never had
a rattle on mine, just fast and accurate.
8 moose, 2 elk, 1 griz, 6 black bears, 14 black tails,
not sure how many white tails....probably enough to
break the springs in my 1/2 ton. Not to mention the
wolves, coyotes, and other creatures that think it's
funny to eat chickens.
