so is H110/W296 the same or similar? will have to pick up some XTP's
WARNING, only recent manufactured H110/W296 are the same.
Pay attention to lot numbers and check with Hogdon if you are unsure!!
odd, they don't mention that on the website, at least not in plain view.
...I always liked the flames that shot out of the 44 mag, 50AE with H110, so i hope it has some fire with the 357.
thanks for the help guys.
ok another thing i am unsure of is,
what are the hard and fast rules of lead bullets? I have never loaded any before.(other than a few to try out in my 45acp). Always used jacketed, or plated bullets.
SOme i have already have lube on them, so these are good to load i assume?
Others i have dont have lube yet, and some dont have the groves where the lube would go, (those ones i think are called speer HBWC).
Is lube mandatory for lead bullets, i guess is what i want to know? Or are they just soft like a frigid woman, who doesnt want it dry?![]()
great list of data there on that site, saved for reference.Go To
http://data.hodgdon.com/cartridge_load.asp
Lots of info there
the speer HBWC are hollow base wad cutters and only use data for HBWC or bad things Can Happen
Start at published Min loads and work up
Do not use Jacketed data for cast loads
Only make a few round to Start ( test the load first ) ---- so Don't make 200 rounds and find out they dont work ---its true if you read it on the web and I read of some one making 500 rounds and they did not work the way he wanted
Ok, i lied. just weighed the bullets. they are mostly around 155gr area. I would assume the lube adds a bit of weight, so i would say the average is 155gr.
In my load manual it shows this weight, but it is not really the same shape as the one i have. It has a lube grove, then the cannelure, then the tip goes to a semi wad cutter. The book does not look like that. It also says that this bullet needs a gas check? Does this refer to the +p loads used, or for the 155 gr bullet period.
I have a small amount of unique, as well as an even smaller supply of bullseye to load with. Enough to load some up anyways, and see what is better.
Also back to the HBWC warning before, i also checked the book again for that, and it is not actually a load specific to the HBWC, the picture looks similar though, and same weight. WHere will i find specific info about that bullet? PM if you wish.
Thanks!
155 is close enough to 158, use the 158 gr data that's as close to your bullet design as you can. i wouldn't worry about gas checks, but that's just me.
