I have a line on what appears to be a nice ag42 at a good price. The catch is it's missing the buttplate. I found some in the US but they won't ship Canada. Does anyone know where I could pick one up?

You could have one made or make one yourself if you are able. All they are is a curved piece of sheet steel with a couple of attachment holes.
You could try Gun Shows, or gunsmiths in your area.

I believe I have two buttplates, with screws. One is used (I think 42b buttplates were serialized if I recall ??), the other is new old stock with no serial numbers on it. I also have lots of bayonets, frogs, slings and the cleaning kit/parts kit kicking around too. Also one of those overly complicated leather and canvas Swedish ammo belts for the 6.5 ammo in chargers. I even have a spare mag !!! If you buy the rifle let me know we can work something out.

This, right here, is why CGN is such a great place!:D

No I didn't buy it. I saw it on the local classifieds here in NS. I'm kind of picky about having things matching or at least original parts (not repro). Thanks for the replies.

Yes that's why i was asking, the pictures on bargain hunter didn't show the missing buttplate. Not that it would have stopped me from buying it.I bought this as part of a package deal i was more interested in the carl gustave
