Looking for information on where I might find information on what sidemount was used on the Mossberg 46M(b) for the 3/4 inch scopes.Trying to stay with an original 3/4 inch if possible. If anyone knows who might have one or where to look it would be appreciated. I have a couple of Weaver scopes a B4 and a never mounted Weaver 2.8 I would like to use.
Regards

I think there are modern replacements available.

If you are using a vintage 3/4" Weaver scope, find a Weaver N2 mount. The holes in the mount won't line up with the Mossberg receiver holes but just drill new holes in the mount. Many people have done this. Of course there are those who have done it the idiotic way and drilled and tapped different holes into the receiver instead of doing it the simple way and drilling the mount. Weaver N2 mounts are often on ebay for not much.

The 2 screw holes are standard on the Mossbergs from what I've seen. There are other bases that will work. The base and scope your looking at in the picture will normally sell for between $40 and $80 depending on condition. I see these off and on at shows in the Toronto area.If you want to go to a more modern mount Brownell's sells a side mount with a picatinny rail top so you can mount a 1" scope. I ordered mine through William's Arms in Port Perry. It was just under $40 taxes in.If you need the part number I can try to dig out the package and post it.

Scott....

:D It's a 46M.
And sorry but parts not for sale. I just picked it up at a gunshow last fall.
She's getting a makeover when I get around to it. Covered in varnish and full of dust.

That didn't take long to finalize! If you search ebay for mossberg tip-off mounts you should see some vintage ads of Mossberg scopes and side mounts used for the 46M.

I'll check my stash Tim. Thought I might have an older B4 as well as a few N mounts.
x2 on Lever76, he's another of the Mossberg guru's along with Gunsaholic and Archer Sam.

Thanks chris, I have a very nice Weaver B4 and a never mounted Weaver 2.8 glass on both is excellent. I am thinking on finding a Mossberg in one of these models M4,M4B,M4C or the M4D. These scopes are in the 15 inch range and would compliment the rifle nicely. Unless I can find something in the mid 1940s in nice shape.

The Weaver B6 scope would also look right at home on it. But if you would be getting a different scope you might as well look for a Mossberg scope. The B6 might be a bit cheaper and in my opinion, maybe a little better built.

I now have this side mount in hand for the 46Mb. Now I am looking for the Mossberg series of scopes in the M series prefer to find a M4D if possible. Looks as though getting one from the U.S. shipped up here is not in the works. SO ANYONE who can point me in the right direction for one in country i would appreciate it.
Regards

Is that because of cost or because the seller won't send to Canada?
I have bought 4 vintage Weaver scopes off of ebay in the past 2 years. The sellers shipped to Canada and the cost of shipping was not as high as if it would have been shipped within Canada. There was no problem with them clearing customs.
