Precision Rifle Building - Help Me To Understand A Few Things

With custom builds it is inevitable that you will make more than one in the long run. Do your best, read, learn, ask questions like this, and go with what you feel will best suit your needs.

Now here comes the inevitable part: Once you get your first customized rifle, you will be very impressed by its performance! Then you will learn bucket loads of information while shooting it. In time, you will realise a few things that you wish you had/hadn't done with your first custom build. Then the second build will be much better thought out.
After that, you will either be:

1.) satisfied with your project.

2.) Addicted to custom precision performance, and build many over the years!

Guess which category I fit in! LOL!

What savage3006 said is so true indeed. He mentioned the Barnard action too. Myself I have a Wichita actioned rifle. Once you have something that is built for a dedicated paper puncher, you will wonder exactly why you waited so long to treat yourself.

Cheers...........

It was already done when I bought it. Matter of fact Charlie Baynes (spelling??) in your neck of the woods built the 'canoe paddle' stock.
I purchased it from Peter of Hirsch Precision. It's a LH bolt, LH ported rifle action. This 1375 action has a Krieger 29" ss barrel on it with centra peep sights. We used to have steel gongs at 300 meters at our range. On a good clear day I could consistantly hit a 6"x6" piece of steel with it's peep sights from a bench position, no problem.

Edit: IIRC the barrel has a 1:13 twist, and an Obermeyer chamber.
It prints really well with 155 Scenars driven by Varget.

The Wichita 1375 was a great action ,I also have one in 6ppc but these actions are discontinued now they haven't been made for quite some time.
Any one of the custom actions should work fine but then again so do factory actions , one nice thing with a custom action is it will be worth more $$ when reselling.
When the work is done properly both factory or custom will shoot.

Your welcome Kevin. You're right that they are not seen often. Coyote piped in, myself and I would be very surprized if there were two others owned by forum members.

Cheers........
