The question is utterly wrong. Although the teacher probably meant well, and/or wanted to get a debate in class, it should have been done so the kids would split at least sort of evenly.

The question is wrong in class, but it stems from the question being wrong in the media, which also stems from the question being wrong within government parties:

Instead of "what weapons should be banned?", the questions should be "what are more effective ways we could prevent someone else from going insane and shooting up a school? And how do we do so without taking away from a law abiding citizen from having access to self-defense or rights to carry.


This argument could go on forever.

If the teacher "meant well" they would know something about child psychology and would not set up an exclusionary, confrontational environment in the classroom over any issue.

The fact is, leftists tend to display the hysteria and fanaticism of religious zealots where ideas with which they disagree are concerned. They are simply religious fanatics in denial that theirs is a religion. They are not interested in debate, they already know what the truth is, and since they know, the only question in their minds is how to destroy what they consider "wrong" and evil. Latter day Savanarolas who will burn more than books before they are done.
 
Is this teacher allowed to teach their personal views? If they believe the world is flat? Man never walked on the moon? Evolution is false? The bible is false? The Holocaust didn't happen? I am OK with teachers and in fact think a teachers job is to get children to think for themselves. I don't think that is what this teacher is trying to do here.

Group 1 Kids who think all assault rifles SHOULD be banned in Canada go to this side of the room. So i have given her some good points but i know there are lots of other good ideas out there i'm missing. So please nutters please help weith some good realistic points on why assault rifles should not be banned!
(Back history i own lots of guns we are a hunting family also pistols and lots of ARs all the kids shoot and hunt)

This only on assault rifles no other guns.

So this thread has been on my mind over the past few weeks. I have been waiting for some kind of response or resolution from he who I was beginning to think had cried wolf. And perhaps he had, I don't know...so I checked his last posts... It was pertaining to this thread a month ago and since then there have been no other posts from him. Hmmm, considering he posted fairly regularly before that I'm wondering :confused: And considering the details of his story, and I read all of them, I'm a little concerned. Anybody out there know what happened to our brother nutter? I sincerely hope all is well.
 
Sadly assault rifles are already banned in Canada .. tell her to look up the definition of a ''assault rifle'' .. The debate should be wether to ban semi auto sporting rifles .. This is the medias fault for telling people any black rifle with a pistol grip ia a assault rifle .. the media, hollywood and pop culture will be the downfall of western culture, they are mostly responsible for the degradation of the moral fabric of our society .. When the number one pop song that kids are listing to is about ''blow jobs'' and teenager are listing to rap that glorifies drugs, crime and prostitution, ect .. theres something really wrong with our society now..
