Browning 'A' bolt

If i were using it mostly for hunting i would go with the A-bolt as they tend to be very light rifles and the detachable mag is nice for hunting. The weatherby's are a bit heavy which makes for a nicer rifle for an afternoon of bench shooting. My buddy has an A-bolt medalion in 30-06 and she kicks like mule. I'm sure you would be happy with either though.

I've got a custom built on an A-Bolt Stainless action and it's a fine rifle. I used a Stainless Stalker 30-06 a few times (it was my dad's but is now my brother's). I'd buy a Browning A Bolt again in a second.

My A-Bolt, a Hunter in .280 Rem, is consistently MOA accurate with factory ammo and handloads and has been my go-to for 20 years. Best groups I've shot have been around a half-inch at a hundred yards. I like the tang safety, the removeable magazine and that 60-degree bolt throw. You can work that bolt fast in cold weather and not snag your gloves on the scope.

Hey, Big Ugly Man, I'm weathered in in Kugluktuk tonight. Bit windy, eh?

Ha! To say the least! Been like this for two days. The drifts on the streets were gnarly this morning. Off to find myself a muskox in the morning. Too bad it's a dry (for all intents and purposes) town or we could grab a beer.

NEED HELP.......Have a 1991 A Bolt in .223, missing detachable magazine, looking for a replacement or someone that makes a magazine conversion, Private message me

I've had Remington 700, Winchester 70, Savage 114, and Browning Abolts all in LH. Winchester went down the road and the Remington and Savage just sit in the safe and collect dust. Always grab one of the Brownings when I go afield.

Both made in Japan... Vanguard is a nice big solid action, the Abolt is a bit more refined, both good guns, wouldn't lose sleep over one or the other.

I'm a fan of the a-bolt. I hunt with an a-bolt 2 in 338 win mag. Like some others have said, get the Timney trigger spring from western gun parts. Super easy to change and they're only $30-40.
