The m305 is an excellent rifle they are about the same quality as Remington has gone to, maybe better they slug out rounds no problem and fit and finish isn't a concern for shooters who can't buy the real deal. The type 97 should be no different actually being a Chinese design I think you'll be very impressed

Can anyone post on the quality/reliability of Norinco? I handled my cousin's M305 over Christmas....he had just got it and I didn't get a chance to shoot it, but I honestly wasn't impressed. It looked/felt really rough to me.

I have had a few Norinco M14s (still own one), Norinco Pistols and the AR 14.5". Out of all the Norinco products the AR is by far the most robust! I seriously abuse mine and have yet to have a stoppage of anykind. This is pretty much the case for most people I have met with the Norinco ARs. The people with Norinco AR issues are actually the odd balls. The M14 has a bit more "luck of the draw" on what you will get out of the box but some fine tuning and they turn out nice. I do love the one I kept and actually use it for hunting.

Anyone else find it amusing the complaints lately of poor quality of a rifle or dies just cause it wasn't finely polished, too rough they say.

Next someone will complaint of their lead ingots were poured too rough :)

Maybe you're missing the point. I fixed it for you. IMO ...

I don't think the level of public interest is going to factor into the classification decision... but if you are suggesting that we need to find ways to get the public "on board" and engaged with these issues, then I totally agree.

I think we had pretty good public engagement with Type 97A, largely due to the tireless efforts of the NFA and Canada Ammo Chris, both seperately and in conjunction with one another, and good engagement with the AP80 (R. v. Henderson) case, especially in Ontario - but if we look at some of the other recent examples: Walther G22, High Standard 10B, GSG-5, SCAR 16S, BD-3008, BD-38, the AR-15 mag bodies case (R. v. Cancade), the Zoraki blank guns, and on and on... most of these died quiet ignominious deaths... as the RCMP slowly but surely increased their power over the regulation of firearms in this country.

Every single one of the cases I've mentioned in this post was ultimately a victory for the powers that be. We're going to need everything we can muster - including getting a vocal public on-board - if there is going to be some kind of push-back againt self-expanded RCMP powers, but I'm having a hard time believing that believing that this kind of thing will factor into the classification decision for the T97NSR. If they do just end up slapping a good ole "para. (c) of the definition of "prohibited firearm" in s. 84(1)" on the NSR, maybe that will be a "call to arms" for some more people.

Guys/gals, enough with the politics etc in here. If you have specific questions about the gun feel free to ask and I will answer if I can.

Is the flash suppressor welded on and do you guys know the weight of the rilfle. And have had a chance to shoot it.
thanks.

Thanks for the replies. I figured as much regarding you get what you pay for. Good to hear that the ARs seem to be better built than the M14's, as I would rather put money into a M1 or M1A than a bullpup...unsure of whether I will like it or not. Maybe it was the roughness or maybe it was all of the stupid accessories he had on the rails but I wasnt a fan of the M305.

I am an engineer and a reservist, I understand form follows function but there is something to be said about a rifle that looks and feels as good as it works.

What was wrong with the Norc M4 manual? Sh!tty english that came from an online translator?

NS might be able to make a special request to the manufacturer - to use as much as they can of the Norc CQA manual and just change what's T97-specific.. Has to be written/translated by the same guy, of course
