I decided to head out this morning to knock down a couple more yotes for a farmer and I finally got my first double in one stand. Ive got two before but not at the same time.

Since I was by myself today, I had time to take a few pics and a couple videos.

The approach

On the approach I saw 5 yotes running around checking out the calves and deer.
Just have to sneak through the cows to get to my position. A couple times going through there made me alittle nervous because ole momma cow dont like me getting to close to her claves.

Heres the layout from my shooting position. A small dirt pile.
This was to my direct front

It took me a few minutes to sneek into my position. From there I peeked around and waited for a minute and made a plan. The yotes here like to sit up on top of the bales and look around for targets of opportunities. I dont know why it is, but for some reason they can never see me coming in here. I dont know if they just think Im part of the cows or not. Well anyways at this time I could only see 2 yote on the bales to my front about 70yds away and 1 yote by a hill to my right about 200 out. My plan was to hit the further then try for a running shot on the second guy. Well that didnt work they way I planned. lol

The first yote was to my front on the far bales right in the middle of the pic. Easy shot. Hit him and he did his dance, than when I was swinging over to the other guy I noticed something out of my left. What do you know... another yote that I didnt see. yay lol This guy came burning around the bales on my left side not 25yrs away from me. I dont think he knew what the hell was going on because I got up to one knee look at him and pounded one into him. Again he did his little death dance for a bit..... but he got up and started to run across in front of me trying to run off to my right. He wasnt going to fast so I was able to pound another one into him. This sum##### kept going. I couldnt anchor him. Since I have a Stevens 200 I only had one shot left. I know bummer. :p By this time he was almost to the first bush on my right side, so I had to shoot through that tree thats kind of shaped like a Y. I dont think I hit em with this shot though. He was one tuff sum##### I must say. I did later find just 7 feet inside of that bush.

Like I said I was by myself so I made alittle vid of the first guy. I did it with my blackberry so it aint that great.

wow I didnt start this thinking I was going to write this much stuff... well way stop now. :)

This is from my outting last week. Kind of the same area. This is going to be quick and dirty

I knew these yotes patterns, so we waited for them. About 70yds away

We could only get the male. The female had twin turbos or something...

This is my first yote I shot over 300yds. lol I figured he was about 320. I thought this guy was a big WWE superstar or something cause he did a wicked back flip when he got hit. lol

My Stevens 223 loves smoking yotes too! I recommend getting a Rifle Basix trigger for it if you're still suffering with the factory original though. Turns that cheap little grey thing into damn near the best coyote rifle out there. (Blasphemy, I know, I know...). Light, accurate and you don't give a crap about all the scratches and dings on it.

The layout of the land around that farm looks like yote heaven :)
Is that a deer standing on the bales to the right side of your “direct front” photo?

It is yote heaven there. Never once had to call a yote in here, they come on their own. Theres "morning yotes" that come around 6:30am and "dinner yotes" that come around 10-11:30am. After that every few hours you can see them off in the distance cruzin around. All in all there was about 20 around the farm area. In fact we never wanted to tell anyone, but we found two wolves or half breeds not to far away from this farm. When we were sighting in my new scope for my rifle we saw two of them chasing one of the coyotes that are in "walking by" video. They WERE way bigger than that coyote. I freaked when I saw that.

I put a RB trigger in her about 2 months ago. Much better. Have it set to just under 2 pounds.

Thanks mang

It kind of was a good day to just get out and walk around some, even though it was kind of chilly that morning. :)

Hey Kenny have you ever thought about changing stocks or your rig?

Im really thinking of changing mine. Was looking at Mystic Precision's B&C VARMINT/TACTICAL Medalist stock or their Choate Tactical stock that they have. Or was thinking of calling Savage to see if I can get a Tacticool stock for it. Dont know what I want. That or a rangefinder, which would come in handy.

Dont tell me that Stevens 200 did all of this!??

Congrats mate, must be good times knockin over a few Yotes all the time!

Well done an love your effort

WL

thanks

Should be going out again on sunday morning.

Anyone with a Stevens get a B&C VARMINT/TACTICAL Medalist stock or Choate Tactical stock? Do you think its too much stock for this cheap rifle? lol
