Confusing search engine on Epps' website

The search engine works just fine for me! It's just a series of filters, and I can even list results by price or date added, etc. It just needs more filters so people can make more specific searches (i.e/list most brand names and gun types, calibres, etc so it's not just grouped under 'other').

Hi Steve,

Thanks a lot for your energetic approach.

With the clarifications "Harrier .45" provided and with removing the weird auto-complete feature I find it already much better.

As I said, I had checked on the left side the "Handgun" box under "Type". At that time it worked for 10 mins with no result. Later on it displayed all handguns in store, as it was supposed to do.
Hmm odd. Do you think your internet connection dropped, even for a
second? If this happens with any regularity, let me know.

Hey CristianM,

We updated the auto-complete and refined the search results; both were
pretty awful. Let me know if you see a problem with either.

Thanks,
-steve

Cabelas, Wholesale Sports, Grouse River and Wanstalls all have good secure websites and Lebarons website is primitive yet with SSL security.
Ellwood Epps site isn't even secure and there's no way I'd order with a credit card on it.

Why would you say this? When going through the checkout, all data is
SSL encrypted.

-steve

If you know this to be true I stand corrected and apologize.
I saw no indication of SSL security when I last visited the website and assumed emailing PDF forms via unsecured email was the process.

They should of stuck with the old one i have just given up and don't even bother going there. Unless they go back to the old one. I have bought ammo and 4 rifles from them back when they had the old system.

Disgrunteled customer

I do know this to be true. The checkout pages uses SSL. Also, the SSL
cert can be used for the entire site -- https://ellwoodepps.com/

They are using the PDF for accessory items, ie scopes, ammo etc -- I
know this process is clunky :-/. These are items which have yet to be
made available via the web frontend.

It is interesting to see that instead of improving site, Epps boys would rather continue with endless excuses.

Ellwood Epps is the biggest store with largest inventory in Southern Ontario, and huge number of customers from all over the Canada.

Their web site is not up to expectations that we have from such a premier store.

I was perusing 'large handguns' and have learned that Winchester 1892 CARBINE, 20 in barrel rifle is indeed large handgun. It is also listed as being non restricted.
So if someone is looking for non restricted handgun in 45 LC, give call to Epps first thing in the morning, they got several of those left.

Hate to see Cabelas.ca and Wholesale Sports scooping sales and market share from Ellwood Epps because of Epps crappy vendor website.
Wanstalls and Grouse River Outfitters have good, user friendly vendor websites and for the life of me I don't why Epps is spinning its tires in this regard.
Hire a properly qualified and credentialed professional to build the site and it'll pay for itself in increased sales.
Over the years I've bought plenty of stuff from Cabelas and Wholesale Sports cause they have user friendly and secure vendor websites where you can buy guns, ammo and accessories with a credit card.
I'd rather have bought from Epps but if they don't give a shyt enough to post a proper website why should I.

Yup, totally agree with the OP, I hate the site as well. I used to check it regularly too but it's so annoying that I don't even bother anymore. Add to that the lack of pics (in this day and age who makes a website without inventory pics?) and no link to the manufacturers, you have an even bigger pain the @$$ to deal with. It's a piece of crap and they should hang whoever design the darn thing!

WOW!! Can't believe these guys still haven't fix this!!
I emailed them the first week of December to let them know how cumbersome and inaccurate their new site was, only to get an email response that basically insulted my intelligence?
(First denial that there was anything wrong, then a lengthy tutorial)
I guess I'm just not tech savy enough to spend money there??
Here's a tip Epps, I have no problem spending $$$ elsewhere @ websites that don't require tutorials!!! Cya!

:(Too bad, I really used to enjoy surfing through the used listings there.......

Still haven't fixed what?

Still haven't fixed the worst website in the entire online firearms business.

When people say "fixing" it, they mean getting rid of it completely and starting over.

That website belongs in 1995.

The website works just fine! I think they did a very stand up job on trying to organize and display their inventory. Theres somethings that could be added like photos and better search engine. But the site on the whole is probably one of the easier sites to find things your looking for with multiple search catagories and the ability to display by price, date added, make and so on! I've bought 4 guns from them this week and absolutely love their site other then requesting pictures is a bit of a pain!

Keep up the good work guys! Websites are always an improving thing and no matter what you do people will complain.

im not sure if you ever visited any other big sponsors site, but each one of them is 10x better

This coming from a person with one post and no feedback score...Trolling no doubt.

Ok guess it's just a few of us complaining eh?? That's why there is 10 pages in this thread!ha:
Sooo let me get this straight... other than there is no pictures..... and.... the search engine is nfg..... yup it's a great site!!

Just cause I don't use this forum much doesn't mean I'm trolling. FYI all you guys should just shut up and go deal with someone else cause you obviously have no idea what it takes to design and manage a website. I have used many other sites and I have to say epps is one of the best, they update their stock every couple of hours during the day... I don't see these other websites listing all their used guns and providing descriptions and an overall condition of the rifles. I have called and emailed epps probably 20 times this week and I have to say i get a reply within 10 hours every time which I can't say about these other sites you guys are listing either...
