this gun started out with a wood carbine stock. it was acceptable and may make a return as a full length "international" but I re-stocked it with a black hogue stock. I was not aware that they made their famous stock to accept a .600" barrel until recently. I found one for a good price. had a chance to shoot it for a first time this evening. as well as the stock, I had a new charging handle come in the mail today, which I literally dropped in my gun and fired 300 rounds without a single failure. I tried the same thing with a VQ charging handle and found it to be a real piece of junk. just did not work in my gun without some serious filing and even then, it was still gritty. my new handle is made by rimfire technologies. flawless functioning of the gun on its first outing.

I thought this was a pretty good group

the image is a bit dark, I apologize. the sling I bought just a short while ago so its still being broken in.

I wanted to keep this gun with open sights as well as achieving a certain level of accuracy. so I figure going with a high quality barrel and sights is a good way to compensate for the lack of magnified optics. in a couple of weeks I will have a chance to try this gun on some gophers and want to try some long distance shooting. somewhere in the 200ft range, as the farthest I have shot my 10/22 in its current form is 75 feet.

sorry to dissapoint. I think it was you who had suggested this gun might look great with the DSP walnut stock. I have yet to find a DSP stock for sale, but the search continues. until then, the black hogue stock will have to suffice.

There are many other walnut options to just the OEM DSP... if you are happy with your set up then all is well that ends well... if you are still interested in walnut options, post on this thread and we will hook-you-up with some links...

I have dreams of walnut. I scoured the tables at the easter gun show searching for a walnut stock. no dice. I want to avoid thumbhole stocks. I'm not sure if Boyds still makes a basic walnut stock. an international stock would be the best. links would be excellent!

thumper69 - I purchased this item on the rimfire parts EE. the seller was Wham-o. its really slick and a joy to use.. colour is purple.
