Please,, I need some opinions on the Ruger sr-22. I`m looking at buying one. The question is, Is it as good, accurate and jam free as my Marlin 795. I like the look of the Ruger but is it a worth my while to sell my marlin to buy the ruger. I`m going to use it at the range and maybe for the odd rabbit
Thanks in advance

I had one a while ago.
Good? Well it stayed together for as long as I had it so thats good lol
Accurate? I was getting around 2" groups at 30-40 yards off a front bag with most ammo. Minute of gopher was about the best.
Jam free? Dont remember having a malfunction with feeding or extracting. Some ftf but thats the fault of the ammo. I didnt like this gun to carry around on a walk. It looked cool but was very heavy.

I would keep the marlin imho.

I've had my SR-22 for about 4 months now. It's a lot of fun to shoot and very reliable now after some minor tweaking and I do like the ergonomics of the stock and grip. The only real negatives are that it's pretty heavy, and breaking it down is takes longer than a normal 10/22 because you have to take off the barrel shroud first. Here's a good video I used to learn how http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gs7bpQEHn7Q

I'm finding my 10/22 Take Down is just as much fun, lighter, and much easier to break down for cleaning. Not sure about the longevity of the breakdown mechanism - will see what it's like in 5-10 years :)

I like my SR. Like was said, it shoots as reliably as any 10-22 and it's good for "minute of gopher". I've never really put a lot of rounds down range. Using a cheap UTG Red/Green dot from ################l.com. I don't believe in waiting for gophers or shooting outside of 20 yards. . .for that purpose it's been great!

I'm a big guy so I don't notice the weight but my wife doesn't like shooting it because it's heavy. Might get a sling just to help carry the weight when I'm walking with it.

I think I may buy her a tricked out 10/22 without all the wanna-be tacticool hardware. . .

So ya. . .hella cool but if you want more accuracy you can get a lot more for the same money. It just won't be as "black".

The SR22 is well made, very reliable & lots of fun. It is as accurate as you would expect from a tacticool .22LR. I get about 2" @ 50m with a scope but I prefer using it as a rapid fire blaster at short range so I have a Vortex Sparc on it which results in quicker target aquisition but less accurate. For accuracy, I use my CZ 455 .22LR or Browning T-Bolt .17HMR. The SR22 was not meant for target shooting.

I really like my SR-22!

I absolutely LOVE my SR22... I had a base 10/22 first, then put a Nomad kit on it and it was good. The SR-22 feels better to me.

For what its worth, the SR-22 action is literally a 10/22 action. If you take it out, you can drop it right into a normal 10/22 stock so anyone who compares a 10/22 to an SR-22 in terms of performance and reliability can't really claim one is better than the other. Your buying the stock when you buy the SR-22. If you like the look of it and like that its all aluminum, get it. I like mine better than the Nomad BECAUSE its all aluminum and a little heavier. If i was going to have a target/hunting 22 semi... Id likely go with just a normal 10/22... but if you want something tacticool... the SR is awesome.

That's the same thing I did. Had a 10/22 and bought the sr-22 kit from EE. Came with the shorter dlask hand guard, and I got a 12.5" sporter chamber heavy barrel from them as well. The rest is magpul + pws t3 mag release. The auto bolt release mod is a must!
