Tikka T3 Varminter feeding issue

You say with three rounds in the mag, the first one comes off ok . So now there's less compression on the spring and follower after that first round is gone.
Then you say that the next round (second) one messes up ...correct ?? So.., once you "fix" or fire that round in the mag, the last round comes off ok once again. It does it this time with even less pressure on the spring and follower.

Seems kinda weird for the spring pressure to be good and function properly....then go bad and NOT function properly.....then return to a proper function once again.....butttt, then again....it's a man made object so it's bound to have weird built in. Hope it's that simple and all goes well with it. Keep us updated.

Yes you're correct and no it doesn't make logical sense to me. I was talking to a friend of my about it and he said we would have to bend the spring, but I'm not willing to play with that idea as I don't want to mess up an $80 mag. I know I would probably have to bend it to force more tension on the rear of the bullet but where exactly would I have to bend it without mess it up is the big question.

Do you have another magazine to try it with? Or another rifle to try the magazine in?

I am wondering if there is a burr, flash or other issue with the magazine.

In any case you need to determine if it is the rifle or the magazine. Or possibly the ammunition, although that doesn't seem likely.

The bottom of the mag is flat with the front of it being tapered upwards, I'm kind of wondering it this is part of the problem. Have you tried re-seating the barreled action into the stock yet? These magazines come apart and go back together quite easily, don't know what you're afraid of breaking. If you're too afraid to fix it, phone up Stoeger Canada and get it in the mail under warranty.

the mag spring is shaped like a " W " but turned on it's side....once you get the spring and follower out of the mag....lay it down on a piece of paper...or loose leaf...take a pencil and mark the shape while the spring is relaxed...try not to move it....once you have the shape drawn....bend your spring so's to push the rear of the follower up with more tension.(( it needs to be taller at the rear of it))..you have the drawing there to help you . Once you bent it, compare it to the original drawing to see just how much bend you've put in it. That little picture you drew will also help you return the spring to the original shape if need be.

Best way to tell if the action isn't seated correctly is the "gas vent" on the left side (non ejection port side) of the gun about an inch back from the front of the action. It should be sitting right on top of the stock (as in touching), not sitting above it.

If it's touching the stock then your action is properly seated, if it's sitting about 1/8th inch ABOVE the stock then you need to re-seat the action in the stock! Ask me how I know!

Good thinking, thank you. It is seated right on top of the stock and looks like it is touching. So it appears it is seated correctly. Now is this correct for all bolt actions?

As strange as it my seam I never thought of you idea, however I was talking to a guy that is a Tikka dealer and advised me to bring it to him and he would send it out on warranty to get it fix. It's not my many rifle so it doesn't matter how long it takes. But thanks very much for you input

I agree with this. Sounds like the rear of the plate is dragging over something roght where the second round sits.
