Is there Any Build Quality Difference Between The Sig 1911-22 & GSG?

Thinking of picking up an OD .22 pistolla for some cheap plinking at the range. There is a bit of a price differential between the two, so really was just wondering if the Sig is worth the extra coin or are they pretty much the same? Also, are they both convertible to a standard 9mm 1911 frame? It's one thing to read web pages, however it would be great to find someone who has experience with both. Thanks.
 
I have not seen both side by side, but I understand they are completely the same internally; perhaps from the same factory... Hey are .45 acp comparable. You can not use the upper on a 1911 nor can you use a 45 upper on the .22 frame. Although still a great purchase for plinking
 
I compared them side to side when I was purchasing and they look exactly the same. I bet they are made in the same factory. I bought the Sig just because I liked the look of the olive drab. It's a great shooter. Pancake 81 is right about not being able to use the upper or lower on anything else. The barrel linkage is different.

Either way you go I don't think you'll be disappointed. I love shooting mine.
 
GSG makes a different conversion upper for a standard .45 frame.

As to the difference between the sig and GSG.....

I couldn't see any comparing them side by side.

I would personally opt for the GSG, as I hear Bluelines customer service is next to none, as is GSG's.
 
You can get an Olive Drab GSG 1911 now as well. They just added a couple colours I believe. I've heard of a few minor issues with the GSG/Sig mostly fixed now, and that the finish wears easily. I wouldn't care, it's a .22 handgun, it's look cool worn a lil!
 
From what I've heard they Sig and GSG .22 1911's are the exact same gun. GSG had the contract to manufacture them for Sig and Sig just put their name on it. I beleive the only difference is the Sig grips and possibly different sites on the Sig?

You know for the price point it couldn't hurt to tear it down and give it a coat of Arma Clear for a more durable finish. For this price I'm gettin' one.....

Thanks I had a feeling this may be the case . I'll get the GSG no point in simply paying Sig's mark up.
 
I have the Sig, picked it because at the time you could only get the od green in the sig and for the extra cash it came with two mags and a holster. Same gun, made in the same factory, the sig finishes were reputed to be better, but with the new gsg's they look exactly the same quality. Save your cash for ammo and go gsg.
 
Sig 1911 22 = GSG 1911 22. Same pistol from the same company, most likely the same factory. Only difference I've heard about is the available finishes for the Sig. Pay more money for Sig, get the exact same pistol :HR:

If the finishes on the Sig are better, maybe it's worth the premium... I really don't know. Consensus is that they are the exact same pistol with different writing and a couple different finish options for the Sig.
