Is there a reliable SA 22LR that will shoot a 2" group at 75m for 200 bucks?

Like the title says.
I'm looking for an inexpensive semi auto 22LR that can give me a 2" group at 75m. Maybe $200 is a little aggressive on the price, but under 300 for sure.
Needs to have a 25+ round mag that feeds reliably too. Needs to be non restricted and eat basically everything it's fet.



What's my best bet?

Your Mag requirement kind of screams 10/22 and you should be able to get a used one in your price range that will do the job with good ammo.

I guess I could do with a 10 rounder or two.
It's hard to find a used 10/22 that isn't covered in garbage is my problem. I guess a tube feed would be alright too now that I think about it, and actually remember that they exist.

If you don't like the "modifications" on used 10/22's, why not buy a new one for 260 bucks. A used one with what you call garbage will also probably cost alot more than bone stock new anyhow. Use caution on ee, some people are asking way too much for their used 10/22's. They are still available new in many places. There may be a shortage someday, but not today.

Where can I get a new one in stock?
I can only find the take down 10/22 in stock it seems.

Marlin 60! (tube fed version)

You will have much smaller groups then what you require! AND under $200 :)

Lots of the older tube fed semis can be had for under $200 and be more accurate better built guns than most of the modern stuff to boot.

Keep an eye on the EE. They often aren't as appreciated as they should be and are a good deal.
 
Any semi auto rim fire rifle made in North America will meet you accuracy requirement...... You may have to try a couple different types of ammo to get it but it is certainly do-able.

25 rnd mag......

There is only one option left at this point!

No.. :) Now that Pro-Mag makes high capacity mags for the 795, there is more than one option. I had a 10/22 that couldn't hit a pop can reliably @ 50 yards, yet my 795 keeps pace with my bolt guns. 1/2 the cost of a 10/22 too!

Hi-cap magazines certainly limit your choices...

For new rifles, as suggested, the drum magazines for Marlin 795 will be on shelves soon. Remington 597 has hi-caps. I love both of these rifles. Ruger 10/22 certainly fits your description (maybe not for price)

For used rifles the 'ol Squire Bingham model 20 can be had for under 200 bucks. The did make an all metal hi cap magazine. They are accurate. The have an aluminium trigger that breaks easily.

If you weren't set on hi-cap magazines, the world opens up for you a bit more...
 
almost any 22 will do that for shure find an ammo it likes and go to town check out the used sections and grab what you like i had a squires that shot unbelievably accurate but had some feed and ammo issues it was temper-mental until we figured each other out but my marlins, 597s and 10/22s all behave better and shoot well 2 inches is very doable with a bone stock 10/22 but you might get 1/4 off the bench with one that has 1000 dollars worth of garbage bolted to it i you want a realy good squirrel gun go that route or the marlin

I've had a couple of dozen 10/22s, currently there are 4 in the stable.

In all of those there were a few that wouldn't shoot worth a poo...... With every single one the problem was solved with a "masking tape" bedding job. That is where the receiver is loose in the stock. Layer masking tape in the stock, once the receiver fits snug you are GTG. You could also substitute bedding compound for the masking tape, if you want to get 'fancy'.

One memorable instance I bought a used 10/22 for $100 from a buddy(base model), he hated it, it just wouldn't shoot!

7 layers of masking tape later (that's right 7 layers of masking tape) that rifle would put 10 rounds of 3 different types of bulk ammo into a 1" dia hole at 75y..... He bought that gun back from me. And yes I made him pay a premium...... $20 for my time and effort :D, I offered to fix it for free when he owned it, but he was too upset to bother....... He just wanted to get rid of it.

99.99% of time the accuracy problems with a 10/22 are stock fit related.

Reliability....... Now that's a different story........
