Newbie looking for New (Black) NR Semi 308, what else it available?

Awesome pics rally guy, I did not know RFB's came with colour options or is yours custom? (It looks great in tan btw) What scope were using on the hunt, it looks to be the same one mounted in the picture of your RFB disassembled (thanks for the disassembled photo too, it really helps to understand the firearm better),,, Cheers

Its amazing how simple the rfb is , it take 30 seconds to disassemble! My rfb is the desert storm edition, to my knowledge it was a one time thing , I think 20 came in the country. I use to have a burris ar-332 3x sight on it, I love it .I have since decided to put it on a ar I purchase and decided to go with a more flexible setup. I install a minox 1.5-8x32.

Yeah just check questar 125 $. Yeah that group was shot with 168gr winchester balistic silver tio from walmart from a 3x sight. I'm shure I could de better with this scope.

Sweet set up, I would have never known of a Desert Storm model, thanks for all the input and photos you've got me leaning towards the RFB now for sure with the disassembly info, and good grouping etc, thanks again,,

Thanks for the reply Morc, how do you like the FNH FNAR? Is it reliable when under periods of extended fire and does it maintain it's accuracy? If you don't mind me asking, where did you purchase it? I did notice this model, and was thinking of it being a possibility as it does have almost everything I could ask for in a semi 308 rifle,,, The reviews claimed very good accuracy, but I also noticed that the take down of the firearm was a little more complicated/more small parts then I would prefer (lots of small parts etc, when watching a video of the take down) would you agree or do you think a take down in the field would be no big deal with that model firearm? I would prefer to have iron sights for a back up to the glass optics, but I suppose that could be overcome one way or another,,,
I know I'm asking a lot, but if you could post up answers to any of these questions it would be greatly appreciated,,,
S
Cheers

I have had absolutely no failures or issues whatsoever with mine. I tend to plink a lot with it and fire as fast as I can. Haven't seen any noticeable drop in accuracy.

It's easily an MOA or sub-MOA rifle as advertised.

The takedown does suck. There's no denying it. It's manageable for way more than should be required. You get used to it but I sure wouldn't take it apart anywhere but on my workbench.

I bought and imported mine through IRUNGUNS.

I don't really see iron sights as an option. The gun just isn't designed for them.

Hopefully this reply is useful. Good luck.

I'm quite sure it would be restricted then. I'd never buy a restricted FNAR. I'd go for a SIG 716 or MR308 then.

I agree, I'm sure a 16,5" barrel on a FNH FNAR would be restricted,,,

Hey Morc, all the info, you've given me has been very helpful (it's good to hear that the FNH is reliable and as accurate as I've read so many times),,,
` I do realize that the FNH FNAR is probably (more like definitely) the most accurate (black) NR ,308 semi~auto I could find for under $2,000Cdn ( and maybe for any price?),,, Saying that extra mags are very expensive (Questar $125), the dis~assemble while not a total deal breaker is not my favourite aspect of the FNH FNAR, but I do like the 20" fluted barrel in the model I would buy,,,
Since you mentioned the Sig and MR308 I will say the MR308 was my first choice for the rifle of a lifetime yet since I will use this for hunting and camping etc, the H&K is out obviously for being restricted (damn Cdn, gun laws),,, So again the RFB is an option if it fits me well, otherwise the FNH FNAR is also a possibility, but Im just not interested in a Rob Arms XCR~M (I did think of one in a lesser calibre "5,56, 7,62x39 or even 6,8spc) to take advantage of the available 10rd Mag,'s that are very appealing to me, but then I came to my senses LOL as I really want/need a ,308 calibre),,,

So to all you helpful Gunnuterz, are there any other worthy rifles that I am missing is there any others besides M14/M305 I've missed,,, Believe me I've thought long and hard about a NR Swiss Arms, NR H&K SL84 but want a ,308 not a 5,56 calibre rifle?

I'm eagerly awaiting the ATRS's ,308 NR rifle that is in the process of being approved by our Gov't, but that will take quite awhile before coming to market if in fact it is approved as a NR rifle,,,

Thanks in advance for any help in this matter and good luck getting Zeroed In,,,

Thanks for the effort pbr streetgang, but I'm aware of the XCR~M rifle and am not interested thanks, but you've set up yours nicely,,,
No offense to XCR owners but I'm looking for something slightly different and just want to know if I have seen/heard of all that's available in Canada for a NR "Black" (No Wood) ,308 semi~auto rifle, thanks,,,

So in a Non~Restricted ,308 Semi~Auto "Black Rifle" (No Wood) we have

: Rob Arms XCR~M
: FNH FNAR
: Kel~Tec RFB
:M14/M305

Have I missed any? As that is not a lot of choices, I would hope more would be available or come to market,,,

Sadly, that's all I can think of too. Perhaps get a Browning BAR Long Tac and put rails and tactical stuff on it? lol

If only we could get our hands on a FAL or a HK91/G3, sigh.

I keep seeing G3's on the net and its one of those things that just pisses me off. Same with the SVD dragunov and AK's. Why prohibited? Arg!

In an attempt to be constructive, the RFB is an interesting choice. Looks like it would be sweet to carry in the bush. How much do they weigh with the 18.5" barrel?

I wouldn't rule out other calibers though - what kind of hunting did you have in mind?

I believe the RFB 18,5" is 8,1lbs sans optics, which is on par for other (lighter) ,308 semi's,,,

I'd be all over a H&K MR308 if they came NR,,,

As for hunting, deer, elk, moose, black bear, cougar and bighorn sheep/rams all within 200meters what with all the trees and mountains we have in BC,,,

Cheers

Those guns are prohibited because their bullets are more dangerous than regular bullets fired from other guns. You own guns, you should know this! /sarcasm
