Heya CGNers

I am looking for a non black rifle either in semi or bolt chambered in 5.56....would like recommendations from persons who happen to own or owned such rifles...POU would be paper and plinking 200 yds max...

There are sooo many options out there it will make your head spin. Bolt action .223 (non 'black rifle') - literally hundreds of choices. No one will be able to tell you much with those criteria.

It's kinda like asking 'Hey - I'm looking for a truck with 4x4. Will be used for driving. Any ideas?' :)

He asked for a fun .223 with an effective range of ~200Y.

A Mini fits the bill. It is semi-auto, chambered in .223 and has an effective range of ~200Y. If you have other suggestions which meet those criteria feel free to offer them up.

Remington ADL/BDL/CDL/VS/VSS/etc. in .223
Savage whatever in .223
Winchester whatever in .223
Tikka whatever in .223
Stevens whatever in .223
Kimber whatever in .223
and on and on.
 
I realize I'm not being that helpful..


Possumparts - as I noted, there are MANY rifles that COULD fill your need. A few questions....

Price range/budget?
Irons or optics (or both?)
Stainless or Blued?
Wood or Synthetic stock?
Heavy barrel or lightweight?
Twist rate (what ammo you going to be shooting?)
Detachable mag/blind mag/single shot?
Pistol grip/straight stock?
Shooting prone, standing, bench?

If you want GOOD responses, you need to narrow your criteria a bit.
 
CSA VZ 58 in .223 would fit this bill as well. Granted it is "black", but it's also non restricted. I had both the mini 14 and CSA, and recently sold the mini 14 as it wasn't getting any trigger time.
