I am flying with my scope in two weeks. I am not sure what to put the scope in (Carry-on) that will make sure it doesn't get banged up on the ride.

Anyone have any ideas of the best way to bring your scope in your carry-on?

Thanks

Well if it's carry on you might just be able to get away with padding it. Or, maybe go full out and get a hard shell pelican or boydt case that will also fit the rest of your carry on stuff.

I have been looking at getting a hard case actually. Just not sure if I need to spend the money or if I will be safe with foam.

But then again, I guess you don't want to lose a scope over a cheap case you should have bought!

One of the main issues with hard cases is weight. I've got a boyt double rifle case that weighs 26 pounds empty. Drop two 7 pound rifles and some ammo in there and it'll be pushing 40 pounds.
There are many smaller cases as well, but due to being a hard case they can sometimes be limited in terms of what you can fit in there. My smaller boyt pistol case is about an inch and a half too short to fit my disassembled AR, for example.

That's what I've got, and it's a fine case for the price. You could probably drop it out the back on the plane on landing and it would survive.
As a one-time thing it's expensive, but if you're going to be using it regularly I recommend it. Or even just if your scope is particularly fancy. $100 ain't so much compared to a $3000 scope for example.

Great insight!

I really like that case as it looks to be a good size for carry-on.

Thanks for help!
