Ross ####-Please add your pics!

The Ross in the crate is a target model and was used in both the UK and Camp Perry USA for matches. It was shortly banned at both places due to the fact it was not mil-spec and would not take a bayonet. The extended bayonet boss was the response of Sir Charles Ross.

What is the ugly rumor about the improper bolt assembly anyhow?
Or is it scuttlebutt?
As I just bought 2 mark III's and one seller warned me of it, is it only the mark I's and mark II's?
Kind of curious as they will be arriving in the coming week.

This thread is about amazing, original, pristine Ross Rifles, in the hope that more pics will be posted. There are lots of other Ross threads for questions like this.

Way back in 2010 I posted about my first Ross (a Mk II 5*), since this thread has been refreshed, I'll take this opportunity to update. :D

Below is the previously-submitted Mk II with a 1916-date Mk III. No other markings on the rifle beyond the Ross factory roundel and s/n, although there is a "Z" on the underside of the stock just behind the trigger guard. (?)

...and the most recent, just last month a Ross Cadet .22 trainer - a Commercial Cadet.

(I've fixed the sling configuration to remove the connection to the piling swivel since this photo was taken - my bad)

The cadet is a very small trainer - unlike the converted No. 2 Mk IV SMLEs.

All three rifles have been to the range, and all three worked fabulously. I'm looking forward to warmer weather to put the two .303s through their paces and truly see what sort of accuracy I can generate.

A friend of mine who reloads 303 made this up for me.

150gr lead bullets Gas Checked, 15gr Unique, IVI Brass, Don't know what primers he used though.

When I shot a 4rd group that was 1/2 - 3/4" with one bullet just off of another in the 3rd group and one flier.

My newest acquisition. It had a receiver bridge with either BSA Martin or Canada Tool And Specialty sight at one time, then was replaced with the BSA side plate mount which has an A G Parker sight.

Very nice indeed Jakester! An early Mk II** Target rifle it appears. Haven't seen one with that sight.
