I have been in a couple of shotgun matches where these would have been beneficial. Anyone know where to get them in Canada?

Safariland has a couple polymer versions of a 2 shell holder.

My opinion though:
If you have gone to slide lock, something has happened in the stage that caused you to deviate from your plan (because no one should ever plan to run dry) and you have likely lost the stage anyways.
Just grab one off your belt and carry on.
not a huge time saver and it may get in your way during a stage.

If its an unloaded start, I find it faster to just use your normal loading technique to fill you mag tube, rack it and go vs try and finesse one shell into the ejection port, put it into battery, and them top up the mag tube.

Again, that's just my take on it.

Ha.
No man, we are all winners...that's why they hand out those purple participation ribbons after the match!!!!

I would agree....the problem with the side mount carriers is that although it seems like a good idea, if you've gone to bolt lock, you're screwed.

Way too much hand movement...hang goes over gun, loads a round, closes bolt, hand goes to shell caddy, loads a few more, then back up to the foreend and back to shooting.

I found it useful on the unloaded start , on the Benelli semi shotguns racking the slide after loading the tube does not load the round on the gun, one need to press that little button on the trigger guard to let one shell come on the lifter first before you can rack the slide to chamber .
With limited capacity of semi auto shotguns when a reload is necessary in the " well designed 8 rounds stages that does not favor the semi gun in open " this is a must for me as I don't have to get the last from my belt { 5 on the tube 1 on the chamber and 1 on the lifter gets me very close .}

Pauls and Onagoth know what they are talking about.
With a semi dont go to bolt lock or you are screwed.

Now with that being said, I suck and my stage plan always goes south after the buzzer goes.
I like to have the 2 shells handy.

I just cut up a Safariland 2 shell holder and bolted it on.
They are $8, I will bring the spare one I have to the next match.

Thanks! I will be in Ottawa for the ESSA match. :( Hopefully I will see you next one.

Made my own...since the one I wanted was not available for 6months.

It works fine.

I like this system better since its fixed solid on the shotgun...

One thing I have learned through much trial and error...

The less crap you have bolted, glued, velcro'd, flubber'd to your gun... The better.

Except for stickers.
You can't have enough stickers.

After shooting the Benelli match in Kentucky, and experiencing my (un)fair share of missing the last target and going dry, I could see how a shell or two might be of use.
I'd have to put it to the timer and see what kind of difference it actually makes, but I also intend to never run dry again so....

yes but it all depends on the application ie: extra place to hold rounds or to do slug change over. The red dot on the other hand for doing practical runs is faster for target acquisition IMO - its needs to be bolted on the shotgun.

Agree.

My whole purpose to the 2 shot holder is: hold 2 slug rounds in case a course requires an ammo change from shot to slug or to just have 2 more places to hold more shells on the shotgun. And the sticker thing is well, silly but fun.
