XCR buffer replacement

I haven't pulled mine but are you using any lube? I know the manual doesn't give any description regarding changing it so it cant be too complicated. Is it just being a stubborn #####?

OMG I just went through this the other day replacing it on the second XCR. There is no trick, no lube, no special way, its all about forcing the living crap out of it. Took me about 25 mins and this is how i did it.

Remove the stock.
Find the hole where the buffer goes in.
Push the buffer as hard as you can into that hole (i know, it wont fit)
From the other side where the stock USED to be , use a pick or screwdriver or something smaller and with an edge (careful u dont scrape the rifle) then pick at the back of the buffer "plug" that goes into the end of the rifle. This should cause it to "skip" into place from you playing with the screwdriver/pick and forcing it in. Take a lot of force and gumption but you will get it eventually.

Hope it dosnt take as long as me.

Take some light fishing line , I might have just used dental floss can't rember and hook it around the nipple on the buffer and pull it into place it took some wiggling and I was worried about pulling to hard and tearing it off but I got it. I never tied it around the nipple just looped once with out crossing it so I could pull the string out after good luck. I wrecked my buffer on breakin running it on setting 4 in less than 200 rounds. Now I leave it on s and it still throws brass 20+ feet.

I just had my buffer pop off ordered a few from Wolverine turns out they are out of stock I've been waiting for weeks now can't shoot my XCR-L till I get a new one.

You guys have any idea who has these in stock.

It goes on the rear of your lower to absorb the recoil of the bolt so it's not slamming against metal.

RA has it listed as a $9 part. I'm not usually one to suggest bypassing the Canadian supplier but in this case as they don't have any and may not for a while I'm sure you can order factory direct and be under the $100 ITAR regulations for small parts ;).

Kind of a crap part to have your XCR out of commission over, order 10 while you're at it :D.

Hope that helps.

I guess I should order a few for the spares box I run both 223 and 762 39 on gas setting two Flawless

A very nice fellow CGN member sent me one of his spare buffers it arrived yesterday.

I'm missing that this is a hard part to install though because it isn't.

I removed the upper from the lower licked the little insert part of the buffer lined it up with the hole on a slight angle and pushed the oppisite side into the hole with a tiny screw driver.

Overall it took under 2 minutes to install.
