Morning,
Wondering if there are non restricted rifles that shoot the 7.62x25mm cartridge. The surplus ammo seems cheap, and would give me a reason to buy another surplus(or other ) rifle
thanks' in advance,
Ken

Off of the top of my head I remember seeing 7.62x25 Mosin Nagant chamber inserts. Ah yes a quick google search and here they are; ht tp://www.sportsmansguide.com/net/cb/cb.aspx?a=650814

There are a couple of companies in the US making uppers in 7.62x25. Just need to do a search, not sure if you can get them up here or if someone can bring one in.

The m1 carbine conversion sounds cool.

The M1 carbine would be interesting; but frankly I'd be much more interested in a nice mid-sized bolt action rifle or carbine. I'd prefer a 20-22" barrel; but I bet there's be a bunch of folks that would love a 14-16" tube on something like the CZ527 carbine.

IIRC after WW2 this was done in China during their civil war, don't know which side did this (possibly boht?), they had the guns left from WW2, but no .30 carbine ammo and lots of tok ammo. Some made it over here as surplus.

It would be a great conversion if the ammo were not corrosive. You can not easily open / clean the M1 Carbine gas system.

the best one I have ever seen is an M1 carbine rechambered to that round. fits the mag and everything with no mods

I think it would make an ideal pistol caliber carbine, because it does mid 1600's out of a pistol barrel.

an AR upper would be ok too I guess

And that was a major reason why so many ComBlock countries switched over to 9x19 for service sidearms. All of a sudden, they learned about another boon of capitalism - lawsuits

You guys mean like this.......

This is an M1 that I re-chambered to 7.62x25. The one photo shows a PPSH 41 magazine I revamped to fit. The shorter mag is a Tokarev magazine in an adapter I built.

Still working out a couple of bugs, but in the "cool factor" I figure it rates fairly high in my book.

I think for a bolt rifle in that caliber, I believe a Savage Axis in 223 Rem. could easily be modified for the tt round. Just a matter of getting a .30 caliber barrel blank chambered and threaded for that action. I haven't tried the tt rounds in an Axis magazine yet, but that'll be on my to-do list tomorrow.

I wonder how hard it would be to talk a manufacturer to do up a batch of barrels.
