.45 would be cooler.![]()
I was talking to a CGNer about this. He said it would be extremely difficult to do because the surplus 7.62x25 is really hot and the gas system wouldn't be able to hold it. If we could figure out a way to do a blow-back action it might be fine. Wouldn't have to change the barrel just get a chamber insert to chamber it down to the cartridge dimensions and switch from a 7.62x39 bolt to a .223 bolt... oh and obviously figure out the mag situation...
Do you know ANYTHING about firearms ?
I know quite a bit... do you?
Then why do you think a gas system that can handle a 7.62x39 can't handle a 7.62x25 I think is what he's getting at.
It's what I was told... Just going off an earlier conversation I had...
No offense, I just don't get it. The 7.62x39 runs around 51K psi while the 7.62x25 runs around 31K, (from what I can find). So if there's a reason to switch to blow back, I don't think it's because the gas block can't handle the pressure.
Nice piece of work tho, I'd like to see guys out there running them, even if I never get one myself.

That + In what way would a .223 bolt be usefull ??
The bit about the blow back action also has me confused.
No offense taken because I wasn't the one saying it. Someone told me that in a conversation
.223 is close enough in diameter to the 7.62x25 rim. My buddy tried it with his .223 bolt and it fit
Is that the same buddy who told you that the 7.62 X 25 pressure is too hot to be used in a gun that can handle 7.62 X 39 ?
I'd really like to see it in 7.62x25![]()
x100! Or 9mm Makrov, to keep with the Eastern Bloc origins of this rifle.

.30 carbine would be kinda cool too using M1 mags
