Savage MK2 TR ( Range report 21-04-13 )

Just got word from GST Precision that my Rifle basic triggers are in. Once I get off my lazy a$$ and walk 2 houses down I will pick them up and install them today...

I did install my new scope this morning...

Well very happy with this riffle... the Mini Mags make it a tac driver... If it wasn't for that flyer ( or my ####ty trigger pull ) I would of had the best group of my life with a .22

I tested 4 different types of ammo... and the Mini mags were the clear winner... and for general plinking the Thunderbolts will do the trick ....

This is my 1st bolt action .22, Puts all my 10/22 to shame. But thanks for the heads up... I will give the Standard Velocity stuff a try...

Both my savages LOVE the mini mags! I've had several one hole groups at 25 and 50 yards. I don't shoot anything else out of them anymore.

never had a 10/22 shoot that well... Today after shooting the MKII TR and grabbing the 10/22 I felt like I was grabbing a toy... lol... the Mini mags groups like garbage in my TD... I haven't yet found ammo it likes. But will keep looking... thats half the fun...

I don't often see scope rings where the scope screws are mounted horizontally (so the rings are split into right and left vice top and bottom). It seems like this is a better set up for protecting keeping the holes & screw heads from the elements. Is there any reason the rings are mounted that way?

Very nice gun BTW!

Well got my EGW 20 MOA rail... now just waiting on the scope and RB trigger.

It's been said a time or two in this thread already...but BOY...you and Hoytcannon are both dying to see your rifles hit the dirt like one of Robin Hood's arrows! lol Razzing you.. The rifle looks great, those rings look pretty wicked too. Where did you get the EGWs? Might use that model on my next .223 build.

I have those rings on all my riffles. I quite like them. On my .308 10-FCPK they have yet to budge since I installed them 2 years ago. The best part is they are not that expensive...

Why they are made like that I dont know...

Give CCI Velocitors and the Winchester Super X 40gr Hollow Point a try.

That's what my MKII TR loves especially at 100 meters.

Made my own bottom metal today... now I can actually torque down the main screw without bending the sh!t out of the plate...
