What is it worth

How are the Chinese considerably different? Better materials?

I wouldn't say so the Chinese used stamped metal and cast parts ( cast iron receiver possibly?)and they made them as fast as they could vs the Russians who started with a 10 pound steel ingot and ended with a sks and did a relatively good job making them.

If it was going to be worth any more than a typical Type 56 it would likely need to be a sino-Soviet with a blade bayonet, or a SKS-D or M. That one looks to be a beautiful example of its type, but as others have said it isn't worth a lot (I'd say in the $170 range as well). I bought a case of ammo from Wolverine back in 2011 and they threw in a new Type 56 essentially for free.

The early Chinese military models are of much better quality than the later commercial ones. That is a nice example. I would keep it - I believe the days of cheap SKS rifles will come to an end, and sooner than some think. Just remember what Lee Enfields and Garands sold for ten years ago.

Does it carries the Poly-tech stamp? If so, it's late '80s, early '90s import (usually built from leftover parts from the 'late 50s and '60s) and is much better than the late Norinco. Threaded barrel shank (not pinned) and milled receiver.

This one was built in the 1960s.
And of course, we always look to you for the correct information on guns.
Also, for those talking about it, I never said I was wanting to sell it, I just wondered what it was worth, as I put it back to sleep in the lock up.
