Hey guys I was somewhat hesitant about posting this question but I'm wondering if it would be viable to mount a posp scope on my svt?

Molot sells a side mount that would require minimal modification to my svt

Also the svt in question has no scope side rails or notch on the receiver.
Anyone try this before on here? Is the posp a good scope option?

Ok again I apologize if this thread offends the purist!

iv been looking into this also. the posp is for the 7.62x54r i think. the top pic with the "normal" rail would be best for stability but you will be floating behind it. with the bottom pic you will have proper form but have more movement of the scope plus the it will move forward with every shot till you pin it.

i was just going mod a pe scope and side mount on it works fine on my 91/59.

We tried it at our shop in Germany. It works however the walls on the reciver are realy thin and places ideal for instaling the mount are very close to or on the internal slides

Why not get a mount that uses the rear sight block? You'll probably have to invest in a LER scope (unless you already have one) but then you have a scoped SVT, that can be returned to 100% original simply by driving a few pins back into the sight block. I have two of the Brass Stacker Mosin mounts, one on my M44, another on my SVT. They are relatively expensive ($65 USD) and require a riser to maintain a cheek weld, or shoot without a weld but it's really the easiest way to scope out any Mosin/SVT/M44.

The only thing you'll need to watch out for is the tolerances of the mount. These were designed for the 91/30 and not all SVTs will fit. Mine worked like a charm, but be sure to check the tolerances listed on their site before ordering.

Do u have any pics of your svt with the brass stacker on it?

No, I'll have to take some when I get home, I DO have some of my M44 with the mount on it, and it's almost 100% identical to the SVT (pin holes for the rear sight block are in different locations, but other than that is 100% the same). I'll post them here for you to peruse while I get my camera and SVT going tonight at home.

*edit: Please don't mock the cheap as hell fitco pistol scope, my wife bought it for me and thought she was doing a good thing :D
